Well, I had a busy weekend. Friday was spent making the house nice and clean for Geoff's homecoming, which happened a little after 10 that night. Saturday was a blur of napping, painting prep work and re-acquaintance stuff. Sunday I went to church by myself and sang, came home immediately after and started painting. Then I got a migraine. Then we went out and did some shopping. Then we came back and I actually painted until I was satisfied with the picture, and for that I am proud of myself. I had left it at an ugly stage and was despairing of ever being able to create a decent painting ever again. But I am quite satisfied with it, even if it does look a tad commercial. (Maybe that means I'll be able to sell it!)

No pics at this point. Since I only did the middle panel of the triptych, I think I'll wait until all three are done.

Today I woke up because my back was going into spasm. My back and shoulders have been sore ever since the floor scrubbing adventure on Friday. I had forgotten that's another reason I don't scrub the floors very often; I hurt like hell for two weeks afterward. So I'm a bit cranky, although going to the chiropractor has helped loosen me up a little. Even he thought my neck was a disaster zone.

A nice thing is that the sun has decided to come out again. It's been missing under rain clouds all week long, and I've missed it! Babe has missed it, too. As of a few minutes ago, Babe was outside "planting" with my trowel in the front garden bed. Now he's entertaining the neighbor lady's little girl so that neighbor lady can get some work done. (I wonder when neighbor lady will go into labor. She's due any day now.)

The only other thing that happened on the weekend was that I went back to the flooring store, just to check if they've still got the flooring that I like (they're a warehouse of leftover stock, so the stock changes and is rarely consistent)... and they do. And I still really like it. Same price, same number of boxes... I showed Geoff, and he likes it, too.

And, after tomorrow, we should have the money for it... And that would mean I could get rid of the carpet, which I'm sure is not helping any of our allergies...

But then there's the kitchen... I hate that floor. I don't much like the cupboards. The range is slowly dying. However... the kitchen I'd really like would cost thousands more than we've got to spend, which means that if we just do the kitchen, we'll have to stick with the same floor plan. Which wouldn't be all that bad, but wouldn't be good, either. But having the table in the kitchen (via useful island) would be very nice. It would help keep the living room cleaner.

Ah, decisions. But, in the meantime, I need to paint. And pay bills. And do other paperwork. And clean the old kitchen.

Congratulations to all those who won top spots in the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_awards! Well done!

To fit what we like with our purse is akin to draw a round square!
