Well, whee.
May. 12th, 2008 10:17 pmI do believe I've finished the triptych. The last third was being rather a pain, but I think I've managed, with some compositional surgery, to make it look much less like an amateurish stab at painting and into something I might deem worthy. Gad, that sounds arrogant, doesn't it? Sorry. But know that, with only one or two exceptions, I have never been satisfied with my own work. All of it looks like amateurish slop to me.
But I think I'll like the triptych once it's put in sequence. I certainly like that (IMHO) I've managed to make each of the three parts a viable painting in it's own right. They'll be better together, but I think each could stand on its own. I just hope they do go together well...
So, I guess I better prepare a spot on the wall for them, although I think taking photos will wait until the paint has dried a bit more, so I can move them around for the best lighting and such.
Next up, I'm going to start glazing the tree roots. Then my dad. Or more likely vice versa.
But now I have brushes to go wash and a depleted palette to put away yet again.
