My monitor wasn't dying after all. It was all part of the computer's death throes. I'm not sure how that works, but that's because I'm a virtual Ludite.

Babe was just fine, btw. Thank you for the concern. He didn't even seem to be in any distress, so that was good. And I have learned to put the easy-to-reach toothpaste containers well out of reach (and preferably out of sight).

We went out and bought stuff last night. A grill cover, a weedwhacker, a reel mower and a small vertical storage box to hold the mower and weedwhacker (and hopefully the other outdoor tools as well, with a bit of maneuvering). And we also got one of our tires replaced/fixed after being punctured with a nail. At least that bit was free. (Yay extended coverage!)

And now I should go out and cover the grill and then use the weedwhacker to subdue our lawn just a little bit until the mower can be picked up in ten days. After all, cutting 12" grass with a reel mower is not fun. At all.

My "lawn" is too bumpy for a reel mower. Or for a regular mower, actually. I use a hover mower. With a little patience, it works a charm even on 2-foot high grass. Flattens first, mulches later :-) But really, since it's light and doesn't stall, if something is too high, I lift the mower and set it down on the mammoth tuft of grass or unregistered sapling, and Bob's yer uncle.

That's really cool! I hope the reel mower will work just fine in our yard, since a regular mower works, but we'll find out soon enough.

I'm so glad babe's fine! Good luck with the lawn, and best of luck with the dying computer.

So'm I! Thanks on all fronts, although Geoff is now thinking that it might just be the graphics card that was dying. We'll see. :-)
