Oh, and...
May. 23rd, 2008 04:07 pmDid I mention that I actually had a bit of inspiration for the next chapter of SMHC last night? First time in mooooooonths. Of course, now I just have to remember what it was. (kidding. Kind of.)
However, that just makes me wish for my other computer back. I miss my freecell and mahjong and photos and other procrastination methods, not to mention all my files. However, Geoff thinks that maybe all that's wrong with the computer is that the graphics card died, so hopefully when we replace it (this weekend?) we will get ourconfusing as shit lovely linux computer back.
This is looking like a busy weekend, though. I doubt I'll even get any painting done, let alone writing. I was personally asked to come to an art show opening tomorrow afternoon, and therefore feel obliged to go. Sunday I HAVE to sing, whether I'm ready or not, as it's looking like I will be one of only two sopranos (ohgodohgodohgodohgod), neither of us particularly fond of singing out (OhGodOhGodOhGodOhGod!), and then that afternoon there's an informal party at a potential friend's house. And then on Monday, which is supposed to be the first truly warm day of Spring, btw, we're going down to South Shore to see our friends, go to Ikea and hang out on the beach. That reminds me that I must remember to go to the dollar store and pick up a bucket and tools for sand-play.
That on top of all the normal and seasonal chores.
On the plus side, this week I have planted a languishing bush (from last fall; I don't know how it survived) which seems to be responding well to its new home so far. I have taken the shefflera outside and made it the centerpiece of an eclectic/artistic arrangement of pots, pails and rocks under the maple tree. I have installed the deadbolt in the back door. I have made two batches of bread. I have even tidied up a couple of times this week (which, with a three-year-old in the house, is as pointless a task as swatting fruit-flies).
I also went weedwhacking and *cough* broke the weedwhacker. It's very fixable, but, erm, yeah, next time I will read the instructions beforehand.
But today, I am doing as little as possible. My head is stuffed, my thoughts muddled and I generally feel coldish. *sigh* I hate allergies.
Oh, and before I sign off on this post, does anyone know of any really good ways to prepare a not-terribly fatty, small, top round (beef) roast? I'm actually tempted to slice it up for stir-fry, but it isn't that small.

Date: 2008-05-24 12:41 pm (UTC)I was hoping to get some time to myself today, but as usual, I'm left minding the babies while Mr D does DIY, and now being on duty at home - still - while Mr D and #1 go shoe shopping. *sigh*
Fingers crossed for the singing. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Date: 2008-05-25 02:19 am (UTC)It is busy, but, of course when I'm tired, I can always just shunt the chores off for another day/week/whatever... That isn't good, but whatever. At least I made a decent dinner.
Laundry really does need to be done, though. But it always needs to be done.
Thanks for the crossed fingers. We're going to need it (although at least I have a cheat CD that I listened to today... hopefully I've got the proper rhythms now ingrained in my head. God, I hope so... Maybe it'll be a low turnout tomorrow. It is a holiday weekend, after all. ;-).
