A friend came over and we spent the morning painting. I worked on the third part of the triptych again, and I've almost got it working now. It's much brighter, more vibrant, and as soon as it's dry, I can work on it again and hopefully fix the compositional error that's dragging it down. Nice thing is, it now fits with the other two parts. I also fixed the first part so that the background color is the same (or close enough) to the middle part, thus tying them all together much more neatly.
It was nice painting again. It's stupid how intimidating it is, though. And I was very happy to find that my second, untouched, palette was still workable.

Babe has a persistent cough. It kept waking me up all night last night, although he seemed to sleep through most of it. If it hasn't got a lot better by Thursday afternoon, I'm going to take him to the doctor. It's almost certainly either a cold or allergies, but it's starting to sound croupy, and it's definitely making him miserable. How long do you moms usually wait before seeing the doc?

I'm really looking forward to our upcoming trip. My SIL called this evening and we had a nice chat, mostly saying how much we're looking forward to seeing each other again. My brother called last night to wish me happy (belated) birthday, and we also talked of how much we're looking forward to seeing one another again. I was also excited to receive a reply from my "adopted" brother to a "we're coming, wanna see us?" email I sent round. I haven't seen him in ages... I've been sadly remiss in keeping up with everyone and wasn't even sure if I had his current email (bad, I know). I might not get to see him, but at least I'll probably get to see one of my other best friends from high school. :-) It's been too long. One of the major downsides to moving away.

I'm not sure that's quite accurate. I can't remember if we went through Kansas or Nebraska on our way to Chicago, but I have the feeling it was Nebraska (it has way better rest stops), which cuts Kansas from my list. But, if we went through Kansas, I would add Missouri to the list without subtracting any of the others. I also can't remember if we ever made our way into Southern Wisconsin. It's not that far from Chicago, after all. But I don't think we did.
I'm not counting airports I've visited, btw, except for Atlanta because we were forced to stay the night there one horrid, horrid trip, and so actually saw a tiny bit of the surrounding area besides tarmac. I wouldn't count that as actually visiting the state or area, however.

I'm stalling. I should have gone to bed an hour ago. That or made myself supper. Silly me.
Oh, but that reminds me. Cheese and pickle sandwiches. If you eat them (and like them), I am curious as to what type of pickles and cheese you use. Do you add any condiments like mayo or mustard? I remember loving them in England, but that was so long ago, I can't remember any specifics anymore, and I don't think I've got it quite right. Silly thing, but it's something I've been craving lately (no, I'm not pregnant).
Anyway, I shall go make my supper now and then hie (myself?) to bed. (Grammatically, should I include or remove the 'myself' after 'hie'?)

Date: 2008-06-18 04:16 am (UTC)Yeah... Of course he has this amazing knack of getting better just before we get to the doctor's office. If he's significantly worse tomorrow, I'll call, otherwise, I'll wait till Thursday.

Date: 2008-06-18 06:19 am (UTC)As for the cough - get ye to the doc's. If you're concerned, that is sufficient excuse.

Oh, btw, I'm sorry I never answered you about the stew. I haven't tried it yet, but I have every intention of doing so when next I feel like stew. It sounds excellent!
