And actually got where I was going with only minimal damage to the tires due to quick lane changes.

Oh, and this was somewhere I've never been before. Eastern drivers may be a bit aggressive, but not normally really insane. Unless you're in Boston proper.

I decided to take a trip up to a store a neighbor raved about north of Manchester to see what they had flooring-wise. Four hours. I was driving for four hours. Granted, if I had taken the tollways, it would have been about an hour total. Manchester is not that far from here.

Good news is that the store has a lot of interesting household stuff for not much moolah. Bad news is that what I went to look at was all 'eh.' Good news is that it was comparison shopping anyway, and the stuff I'm comparing it to looks like it's a really good product for very little. Yay!

Unlike some, I enjoy shopping for remodels. The only thing that gets me down is the reality factor (cost, upkeep and durability. CUD to chew on.) Okay, current fashions also get on my nerves. Houses shouldn't be dateable just by looking at them. I know they are and always have been, but still. Why can't the manufacturers produce the classic lines along with the new fashions? On the other hand, it's very cool to have so much choice for so little money (comparatively speaking).

Speaking of which, the kitchen floor got measured this morning, and everything is moving ahead. The floor guy also gave advice which will make the demolition portion of the process a lot easier. Yay! That means that maybe the demo will be accomplished in one weekend, like I fantasize it will. I really hope that it's going to stay on my imaginary schedule. That would be so awesome.

Oh, the other good news was that I found out that gas is a good ten cents cheaper north of Manchester than it is here. That just means I'll have to take a trip up to Tilton at some point before the gauge points to empty.

But now the computer is acting freaky again, so I'm going to sign off.

I live about two miles from the Manchester airport and the price for gas yeaterday was $3.79. Just curious, but what was the price by Tilton? Also, what store was recommended? I haven't driven north in quite a while. Sounds like your kitchen plans are moving along nicely!

In Hookset, which was as far north as I went today, the lowest I saw was $3.67. Big Jim's Bargain Center was the recommended store. Super selection of doors, good selection of windows (from what I could see) and decent selection of bathroom vanities and sinks. There was other stuff there (notable was composite decking for $1.75 LF) but that was pretty much the gamut.

Yes, my kitchen is moving along! Woohoo! I even received a call from the place I ordered the island-top from, and it's due in next week! That is fast!

I know you talked about putting in white flooring, but the upkeep is horrible. I have four kids and my kitchen floor always looks like I never mop it. Maybe it'll be better for you.

Gas here is still over $4.00 a gallon. Blech

Yeah, it is horrible for upkeep. And considering my cleaning style (which is not even close to OCD), I think that and the money are putting a kaibosh on the white vinyl. I'mnow leaning towards darkish laminate throughout.

Welcome back, btw! I hope things look brighter soon and that everybody (hubby?) is feeling better.
