So, we went out and spent a lot of money today, and boy did that feel good.
We bought an area rug I found yesterday that does not go with the green carpet, but we're getting rid of the green carpet soon, so that's not a consideration anymore, is it? Whee! It's rather muted, but it goes perfectly with the yellow walls, and will be glorious with the floors I've chosen. It's a rather rustic, tribal design, which is exactly what I was looking for. And it has enough blue in it to be cool in the heat, and enough red to be warm in the winter. And what's even better, I liked it more when we brought it in. Yay!
Then we went and bought a chop saw (compound miter) and wood and screws for a phenomenally small amount (especially considering the (rather large package of) screws were nearly a quarter of the cost!), and then we went and got a hard-drive and graphics card for the linux machine! At this moment, Geoff is trying to set it up and transfer all of the old hard-drive's contents onto the new (and logarithmically bigger) hard drive. So far, the computer hasn't crashed, so I am hopeful that it will work and solve all the problems.
Hope hope hope.
I also found two counter stools that are really good looking and very comfortable for a whopping $10 more than the ones I was thinking of from Ikea. Each, but still. (Maybe $20 each, but it's still worth it.)
And I also saw some reasonably comfortable, reasonably sized and very reasonably priced sofas for whenever we replace this one.
So, all in all, it was a good day.
Actually, the friend who's moving came over for tea yesterday and we chatted for a few hours, which cheered me up considerably. And then, hours and hours (and window shopping) later, we had a new co-worker of Geoff's over for supper (very informal) and I think we all enjoyed that, as well.
So, yesterday started pretty shittily, but by the end of the day, I was feeling quite good.
I'm still bummed about C moving. I'm still annoyed at Geoff's foibles. I'm still worried about people not liking me, but on the whole, I'm feeling much better about my place in the world and those around me.
And my place. It's going to look soooooooooo good! And soon! :-)
I think the so-beautiful-it-was-cheesy sunset helped, as well.
So, hopefully my computer will be working soon and I can retrieve all my photos and show off the good ones. And back up everything. And have GIMP to play with again, cause photoshop sucks forplaying around with drawings.

YAY! for the computer!
