Am not back
Oct. 4th, 2008 10:43 amSo, we have internet in my house again thanks to XP's built in PPPOE thingy, (which actually works on Geoff's laptop, but not on our desktop) but I don't really have time to enjoy it. Plus, it seems I really do break computers. Bah. They should learn not to take what I click so seriously.
We're still in the midst of renovation and this is starting to make me very nervous (not to mention cranky) because I haven't started on the hp_art_project painting, and, um, that's due on the 30th.
I also haven't touched my other paintings, and I have to have a bunch ready for the 1st of Nov.
I am so fucked.
So, to sum up:
Good: internet access at home, all cabinets finally here and (looking like) they're not broken, having a closet again, the bulk of stairwell shelves built, progress being made despite colds and such, and the knowledge that I am getting it done.
Oh, and Fall. It's here and it's looking like it's going to be beautiful. Hopefully I'll get to enjoy some of it.
Bad: Chaos still reigns, fridge is still in the living room and it's looking like it's there for the duration, BUTTLOAD of painting to do, both house and artistic, and energy flagging.
But at least Geoff is now home for a while (he was out of town for two weeks recently... That was fun) and rested enough to actually help out. Especially since I had that hissy fit the other day.
And hopefully the house will be done in time for Christmas. I doubt it'll be done for Babe's birthday, which is a bummer, but oh well.
So, now that I've bored you all, what's up with you? I probably am not going to be able to catch up on three weeks worth of stuff, so if anything important (or not so important, I'm not picky) happened, please let me know. I can't promise to get back to you right away, but at least I will see it in the foreseeable future!
Looking forward to catching up,
Elizabeth

Date: 2008-10-04 07:26 pm (UTC)Now that work is at a more whelming level...
Oh, that's good news, although it's amazing how much work is added to a day when you have to add carting kid(s) to and from school. And I'm so looking forward to reading all the exchange fics, but I know yours will be one of the better ones. Whee!
Hope your tidying is going well. I.e. I hope that all tempers are still intact. Or most of them, anyway. Or yours at the least.
;-)

Many tempers were lost but have been recovered since.

Date: 2008-10-06 01:07 am (UTC)It is looking rather gorgeous. The reds are looking phenomenal this year!
It boggles my mind that even though school has only just begun (okay, it's been more than a month, but...) a sport's season is already over. I guess that's something to look forward to, eh?
Sounds like you'll be busy for at least another month, though, what with hubby's campaign. Good luck to both of you!

Date: 2008-10-04 08:21 pm (UTC)Nothing special here - a lot of work, and wrestling with uncooperative exchange fic.

Oh, I'm sorry your exchange fic isn't playing nicely with you. Can you bribe it with a shiny subplot? Good luck!

Date: 2008-10-05 09:18 am (UTC)There's just the minor drawback to it, that in her room all walls are all covered with plasterboard with a cavity behind them. So we had to do a lot of improvising in persuading those walls to support shelves ...
At the moment all our kid's stuff is piled up in the living room and she is camping in said living room on a matress. No tv for us until the room is done.
But apart from that, life is good :-)

Date: 2008-10-06 01:15 am (UTC)And funny, when I was Larva's age, my mum and I painted my room pink. Bright pink. Two shades of bright pink. And lavender.
It was actually quite nice, although shockingly bright. Gotta love sponge painting techniques.
Glad to hear that life is good other than hollow walls. Good luck getting it finished quickly!

Date: 2008-10-06 04:20 pm (UTC)Me! Me! Maybe you've seen the picspam by now - her name is Emma, she seems to be low on those evil allergenes that make Mr. F sneeze and cry, and we love her to death.
