Oct. 17th, 2008 03:25 pmSometimes I am so clever, I amuse myself.
I am almost done with the construction phase of the paneling, and I figured out a way to make the end trim work with the use of a simple dowel.
The paneling is far from perfect, as is everything else I've done so far, but I am very pleased with how it's turning out. It might not look professional if you look closely, but it'll be a nice custom touch that will make me smile, and might make others go "ooh!"
Wheeeeeee!
On the other side of things, here are a few of the photos I've managed to take outside of the house this fall.
Most of these look better full size, so please do click on the pics!

Date: 2008-10-19 03:02 am (UTC)I grew up in Colorado, and although there is Fall color there, it's also more subdued and, well... honestly, usually the snow came along before the trees really turned and stripped all the leaves off. That was fall. Just like Spring was having the trees burst out in bud, and the daffodils pop up, only to be crushed by a foot or two of heavy snow.
I love New England's Falls. The worst weather you get is rain. :-)
The kitchen... I would feel a whole lot better about it if I had a working kitchen sink at the moment. Or didn't have a cupboard full of dishes to wash. *wry grin* It's the little things in life that we learn to rely upon.

Date: 2008-10-19 03:10 am (UTC)If you ever find yourself out in the Northeast, try to make it during the early to mid bits of October. It's more expensive, but, oh my, it's worth it. Especially being used to SoCA as you are now.
And thank you! I think of composition as my weakest point, so that means a lot to me! *smooches*

Date: 2008-10-18 01:40 am (UTC)We don't get such a variety of fall colors here, but the gold cottonwoods against the bright blue sky is a favorite of mine.
Can't wait to see the remodel!

Date: 2008-10-19 03:15 am (UTC)There is something special about the yellow against the Colorado blue sky. When it actually happens, it's lovely. I just remember most Fall's being a case of an early snowfall stripping all the trees of their leaves before they had a chance to turn. That or the leaves would just turn brown from the frost and wither away. Bleh. Spring was equally disappointing. I must say I do like living in a place that has definite and reliable seasons. Even if Winter is far, far to long. (It would be better if Christmas were at the end of January, rather than December. That would break up the monotony a bit more equally.)
Neither can I. I hope it will be soon.
