With knobs on

averygoodun42It's funny how accomplished I can feel after doing so little. For instance, yesterday I did two things - I finished assembling the paneling, leaving it ready for priming, and put the handles and knobs on all the cabinet drawers and doors. That's it. But, oh, how good it feels to have got those two things out of the way!
Today I will prime the paneling and then caulk everything that is ready for it. Hopefully I'll be able to do a bit more than just that, but if not, I will have accomplished something that I've been dreading for a long while now.
I hate caulking. But it's really essential to a nice finished look.
I'm waffling on the shelves now. I want to use them. I really want to use them. If I finish them and paint them up, I won't be able to use them for two weeks after the final coat of paint goes on, at the minimum. But they'll look butt ugly if I shim them up and caulk without painting them. And just plain unfinished as they are now.
I guess over the next couple of days, I'll find out how much we can stand the paint fumes without being able to open up the windows (but having the house fan going). That will decide whether the painting will wait till Spring or not.
