First off, thank you all for your congratulatory remarks. <3<3<3

Secondly, I feel sick from exhaustion. I forgot just how taxing it is to be worried, especially when it's unacknowledged worry. But now that the relief has sunk in, I'm simply weary. I hope a good night's sleep will help cure that.

There is so much to do in the next few days, it makes my head spin. Not only are there construction tasks (though all on the small side), but also Christmas related tasks. I fear Christmas presents are going to be late this year, though amazon might yet save the day.

On the plus side, I managed to get Geoff to the shoe store today and had his feet properly measured. Perhaps this batch of shoes won't be worn out within the year thanks to being wide enough. *shakes head* Silly man. Now if only he'd consent to getting custom made shoes, which would really save money ( and his back) in the long run. (The ball of his foot is EEE, his heel is closer to A.)

I'm afraid I probably came off as a domineering girlfriend/wife at the store. I had to return a pair of boots, and when I was able to join Geoff, he was just sending a salesman on his way. The salesman turned his attention to me, and I pointed at Geoff and said, with authority, "He needs his feet measured."

Geoff rolled his eyes but followed the salesman to the chair. I then proceeded to coach Geoff on the intricacies of buying shoes. "Are they comfortable?" "Yes, of course they feel different - they aren't squeezing your feet. That's the point." "Are they comfortable?" "Which are more comfortable?" "If you don't like it, don't buy it!" "Is there sufficient arch support?" "Are they comfortable?"

Yes, this may differ from some other people's methods of buying shoes, but since neither Geoff nor myself are real fashion fiends, nor do we actually enjoy shoe shopping, and me being coached from a very young age to appreciate the importance of good, comfortable shoes for the overall health of the body, this is how I do it.

Of course, I also told Geoff that there are always insoles as a last resort (and reminded myself at the same time that my latest pair of boots needs a pair). Fortunately, I don't think he'll need them with his purchases. Whee!

So anyway, went to the doctor's office, then the shoe store, then came home and crashed. That was my day. How about yours?

Comfortable shoes are vitally important.

My day? Sick baby. Worry, worry, worry.

Ooh, you can get your feet measured in shoe stores? That sounds very useful.

Comfort is absolutely the most important thing about shoes and boots. It's a nice extra to have them looking good too, but comfort wins, every time.

Yes we can, and yes, it is handy.

Definitely. I have sinned on that front a couple of times, but only a couple of times. And they were pretty enough to be useful in ways other than wearing. And they were cheap.
