Dec. 17th, 2008 05:25 pmHere's an article that's good for a laugh, albeit a rather cynical and bitter laugh. I think that the author is more to blame than the interviewee, but still...
In other news, I am quite proud of myself. Not only did I clean up the living room (which involved lugging the mattress set upstairs into Babe's bedroom), finish the Christmas tree table and assemble two chairs, but I also managed to clear off the junk laden ledge and most of the island top. And I think I know how I'm going to arrange the living room for Christmas. Yay!
I did not get the paneling finished. I did not get the shelves finished. I did not do an ounce of laundry. I did do a load of dishes, though.
And it snowed! Not much, but just enough for it to look all wintery, which really does help put me into a more Christmas-y frame of mind. Listening to some good classical carols on pandora also helped. Tomorrow afternoon I hope to get baking, as the smell of cinnamon and spice will definitely beget a more Christmas-y mood.
Hopefully tonight I won't be so exhausted as I was last night, and I'll be able to write a bit. That would be nice. It would also be nice to work on those shelved, though. If I got them finished up and cleaned off (though not painted) and stocked, I would be quite happy with myself.

Date: 2008-12-18 07:15 am (UTC)I rough it on half of what she makes. Being aware of different costs of living (Berkeley ain't cheap), I still pay for my own insurance. Sheesh. $40K is way more than most families live on in this country. Nevermind the trade on her name.
Still, I love that the richest man in the world lives in Omaha and sends his kids to public schools. Really puts some perspective on things, doesn't it?

And yes, if only all the senators had to send their kids to public schools.
