The Dalai Lama is against Peace. Duh!

averygoodun42So the current controversy surrounding the Dalai Lama... It seems so incredibly politically stoooooopid of Pres. Motlanthe to ban him him because Tibet "becomes the issue and South Africa is no longer the issue."
Doesn't it seem like that's a guaranteed way to make Tibet the issue rather than South Africa's progress?
In the same way I suspected McCain was deliberately sabotaging his campaign, I think Motlanthe is flipping the bird at China. Granted, this is knowing nothing about the man or his politics. It is possible that he is as stupid as Bush was and this isn't just a very cunning plan(TM), but it seems unlikely.
