Photoshop and I have been making amends today. However, I think I need to get a book and actually learn how to use it properly.



And it isn't even the finished background, at that!



Still, I am pleased. And at least I'm using levels, so if I screw it up from here, I won't be tossing the whole thing in the dump. :-)

very nice! Is the bed a separate layer? how did you get that shadow (reflection?) on the floor? it's an interesting shape.

Thanks! The bed is separate, the dark part of the floor is separate, the dust on the floor is separate (I put a layer of 24% opaque color over the floor, then erased from that layer, revealing the floor (base) layer underneath), the walls are separate... I should have made the top sheet separate, but oh well.

The part I'm very pleased with is the shadow on the wall by/under the bed. It was pretty easy, too, using the gradient tool! I've never used that tool before this piece. Yay new tool usage! ;-)

I had a friend who realized she'd gotten used to photoshop when she was drawing freehand and kept going to the upper left-hand corner to 'undo.'
