Mar. 30th, 2009 03:04 pmWell, Babe went to school today, though he squealed like a pig (really, that's what he sounded like) until he got into the car. Good god, that child can scream. Geoff finally bribed him with jello, and that calmed him down enough to reason with him (and get him out of the house).
I might have just said "the hell with it" if I hadn't had a commitment already this morning. But I did, so Babe needed to get dressed anyway, and since the commitment was at his school, and he seemed happy enough to see his teacher when we got there...
From the sounds of it, he lasted all the way till they were filing up the stairs to leave for the day until he melted down. I'm glad I was there to deal with him, instead of leaving it for the teachers.
He's now on the cranky side, being understandably tired and all, but he hasn't had a fever since Saturday, and he's starting to have interest in food again, so I'm thinking he's probably getting over whatever that crud was.
Yay.
Of course, now I'm exhausted. So is Geoff. Who is coming down with a sore throat.
La.
Anyway, that's life here. Today or tomorrow I shall be making that beef stew recipe Dicky gave me a while back, as this week is devoted to beef. It's a nice change from all the pork we've been having. (It's really a shame I do need meat. Beans are so much cheaper.)
I'm also tempted to make pea soup today because t's so gray and wet out. That, with bread pudding for afters, sounds like a very comforting meal. And eeeeeasy.
So, that's life. Punctuated with the occasional bad-tempered screams of a four-year-old boy.
Yay.

Date: 2009-03-30 08:07 pm (UTC)Beans can be super yummy, but without meat, they just don't pull their weight. I'm figuring on serving a veggie-rich salad and fresh bread to stretch the stew. And the temptation of leftover bread pudding. :-)

Date: 2009-03-30 08:15 pm (UTC)My preferred meat is beef, by a large margin. I used to love lamb, but ever since pregnancy, I haven't been able to touch the stuff. Poultry is eh, but since it's another thing Babe likes, we're having that a bit, too.

Chocolate. That's what we need. *nods* Maybe chocolate cake... I dreamt of that the other night. Along with some naughtiness I won't share, but the cake might be just what's needed.
