My goodness. Today was a long day, and I didn't even sing at church (which adds an hour).
First was church. Then writing group (in which I submitted what I've written of ch. 25 and was told that Hermione was OOC. *sniffs* ;-)
Then I called Geoff for a ride home.
Oops.
Turns out that today there was a race along Main Street. Car traffic was basically at a standstill as the police gave right of way to the random runners and walkers.
After waiting for half an hour (it's a ten minute drive, tops), I decided to give up on Geoff and started walking. The church is not that far from home, after all. Unfortunately, I was wearing church clothes, and with those church clothes were church shoes. Not the best for walking.
I did a circuit around the church block first, to make sure I hadn't missed Geoff coming from a different direction, and then I headed homeward, on the look-out for a public phone, the first of which was at the library. I figured I should at least let Geoff know I was not at the church anymore.
It turned out that he was very close to the library (which, in turn, is pretty close to the church, (in fact, the church is literally across the river from the library.) but you have to cross the river, via Main st., to get there because New Englanders are seriously phobic when it comes to bridges, as I'm sure I've mentioned before.), so, even though I'd offered to just hang at the library till it was time to head off to our next engagement, I got picked up less than ten minutes later.
Which was nice. My feet were hurting.
In the car on the way home, avoiding Main Street like the plague, I found out that Geoff and Babe had only just pulled into the driveway when I'd called for a ride. Meaning Babe hadn't had anything to eat yet, which meant that he was still in Demonboy from Hell mode. And then it took an hour to get to where I was.
He did stop at the store, probably half and hour into the trip, to pick up some donuts, which helped soothe the wild beast, but...
Anyway, by the time we got home, Geoff was utterly pooped. And fed up. And I can't blame him. After all, that's what I've been dealing with every day for the past week, only without the standstill traffic situation.
So we rested for about half an hour, (well, he rested. I had a shower, cause I stank from my walk) and then made a bean/artichoke/mushroom salad thing to take to the potluck... at the church.
Fortunately, by that time the race was over and it was back to being an eight minute drive.
Also fortunately, Babe's babysitter was awesome so that he was good-humored enough by the time we got home to allow me and Geoff a small nap while he ate his afternoon snack. And, fortunately for me, they both allowed me to continue sleeping. I woke up just in time to get a goodnight hug and an I Love You kiss from Babe. (He doesn't give or accept goodnight kisses anymore.)
So, yeah. I'm pooped. Social interaction + sun + walk = tired Elizabeth. I think I'm going to head to bed as soon as I finish drinking enough water to catch up. Without overdoing it so that I won't be up all night.
At least I didn't get sunburned too badly. I don't think. Haven't looked in the mirror yet, either. *bites nails*
Cheers!

Date: 2009-04-06 02:41 pm (UTC)I think I did get a non-burn yesterday. I couldn't get warm last night, ending up with pjs, socks and shirt on under an extra blanket and cuddled up to Geoff. And it wasn't that cold.
*shrugs*
I'm sorry. The twos are no fun at all... although I swear they were easier than the fours have been. :-P Parenting suck sometimes.
