Wow. Today was an active day and a productive one, at that! A bit boring to read about, but it was nice to experience.
After an energetic morning, Geoff and I actually went out and tackled the yard today. While Geoff was out amusing Babe and neighbor!kid by riding around the neighborhood, I weeded the front garden and transplanted the varigated periwinkle from the front garden to under the tree. I hope it makes it.
Then, when he got back, Geoff assembled the reel mower and we raked, de-dandelioned, mowed and weed-whacked until thejungle lawn was all more or less uniform in height. And a good six or eight inches less than it was previously. It looks almost civilized now, if you ignore the rocky construction pit that will be our patio. Eventually. (This spring/summer!)
I also, for the first time, climbed the back fence today. I went to toss some grassy weeds that were growing in a pot of mine into the swampy area, and, well, the pot went with the weeds. Easy enough to fish out, but I forgot how uncomfortable chain-link fences are to climb.
I even rode my bike a bit today, too. Not far, but at least there was a (tiny) hill involved. It's nice that although that got my legs protesting, my lungs were perfectly happy, if a little excited.
The most exciting part of the day, though, was that I started actively looking for a bike for Geoff. Although, it might turn out to be a bike for me... Geoff's bike was stolen while we were still living in Indy, and, unfortunately, our renter's insurance only covered stuff at our Chicago abode. (Geoff lived in Indy, I lived in Chicago.) So no new bike.
But now... I would like ot go on family bike rides, especially if Babe really is the type who needs lots and lots of exercise to stay cheerful. It certainly would do all of us good to be more active.
So... I looked in stores (without going to the local store that I know is expensive), which are all pretty expensive (not-surprisingly), and then came home and looked on craig's list. And, lo and behold, there are a few that are in our price range! One is way far north of here, but if the two I sent out feelers on don't pan out...
So I'm excited.
I also got the Athena dress in a size larger, tried it on for Geoff, and we both think it looks better. I'll show you all sometime later. Probably after I return the smaller one.
So, busy day. Boring to read, but good.
ETA: But OH, am I going to be sore tomorrow. I'm already feeling it, and, since I'm not asleep yet, I can be sure it'll only be worse tomorrow. Oh well. Hopefully I'll recover more quickly than usual.
