I had forgotten that the reason we bought Babe an air conditioner for his room last year was because he starts coughing if we leave his window open.

Ever since the last hot night (Thursday?), he's been coughing. Today his cough has been enough to make him throw up. I'm almost positive it's allergies, not a bug.

It sucks knowing it's only going to get worse for Babe. At this point there's little we can do, because I am not subjecting him to allergy shots yet. Not until he's really able to understand what the process is and choose whether he thinks it's worth it. He is on children's claratin, and I do think it helps keep the misery level down, at least.

My allergies have been flaring too, although this year has been pretty mild, considering all the time I've been spending outside. Yesterday morning I helped clean up an old lady's yard that had at least five years worth of pine needle accumulation everywhere. I'm pretty allergic to pine, but it wasn't so bad, as long as I kept the gloves on.

Granted, it wasn't the pine needles that were disintegrating as bagged the stuff.

However, his cough is not enough to make me keep him inside. It is enough to make me think today will be a room cleaning day, though. It's overdue anyway. And maybe go out and get an allergy shield for his bed.

And then, if the cough calms down, we'll go out tonight to a friend's party so he'll at least get some socializing in. Tomorrow can be zonk-out day all around. I think we will all need it!

Pine pollen is the nasty stuff. Each year it drops from the trees and lands everywhere. I have had it on my car, just touched it with my finger and had a reaction. Jasmine also kills me. Each year the neighborhood blossoms with millions of tiny blooms. I adore the smell, can't stand the headache and stuffy head it give me.

Yes, the ac can help you and Babe. Make sure you keep the filters very clean. That will help.

As long as it's reasonably cool, we can just keep the doors closed and the internal fan running, but once the heat comes... Now that the lilacs are fading, it's not even sweet smelling anymore. *pouts*

Yes. Clean filters are a must.
