"We're a capitalistic society. I go into business, I don't make it, I go bankrupt. They're not going to bail me out. I've been on welfare and food stamps. Did anyone help me? No."

Do you think he could have been pulling a Colbert on Glenn Beck? Ironic or not, it's still hilarious!

It would be interesting to see what's his business was. I think he is refering about the business side. Not the welfare and food stamps. As that is obvous that is help. What he means is no one helped bail his biz (whatever it was) and he had to go on welfare. When I was broke...I was still not eligable for social programs like welfare and food stamps. You really HAVE to have nothing, or back in the day (2003) that was the case. By nothing that means you cannot own property, savings, car, or even a phone....

I have no idea what the criteria is for welfare presently and it may vary from state to state. Craig was really broke or damn good at hiding his assets.

To echo Craig, my hubby has two failed businesses. No bailout there either. We are simply not polically expedient.

GM is saved for 60,000 jobs yet millions have been outsourced and continue to be. Where is the govt when AT&T dumps 60,000 jobs over 3 years? What is being done about that? Nuthin. It's all fucking agenda driven bullshit with no real change. it's a polical decisions and has nothing to do with "saving jobs". If the govt wanted to preserve employment they would do something about outsourcing.

That's so depressing to me. Clearly, then, what social programs the USA provides are not at ALL appreciated by the people who receive them. Not very good motivation for someone like me to vote for more social programs.
