Goodbye, dear hair
May. 5th, 2006 04:09 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I'm getting my hair shwacked off tomorrow. I have enough to donate. Wheee.
Things I will miss about my lovely long hair:
The feel of it tickling my bare back
The ability to just pull it back off my face
All the dreamy hairstyles (that I never had the patience for)
Having something to be vain about
Being able to use it as a tool for seduction
Being able to tickle Babe without wrecking my neck.
The beautiful curls that happen when it's been just long enough since washing it last. It looks like I've used a curling iron, only it's natural. When my hair is four inches shorter than it currently is.
Things I will NOT miss about my lovely long hair:
Showering: a) the amount of time it takes to wash my hair b) the amount of shampoo it takes to wash my hair c) the amount of hair that ends up in the drain after washing my hair and d)the amount of time it takes for the damn stuff to dry!
The weight, and the headaches it induces
The need to pull it back from my face
All the hair everywhere. I swear I'm as bad as a cat, only the hair is 10X longer than any cat hair I've ever seen!
The heat. My hair is thick. When it's short in the summer, it's hot. When it's long in the summer, it's murderous. Heat stroke, anyone?
Cooking. Especially for company. I hate hairnets.
When swimming, I hate having to tie it back (I love the idea of hair streaming behind me all wavy and mermaidish), but if I don't, surfacing requires extreme care and finesse, otherwise I end up with a gob of wet hair trying to drown/suffocate me. It's tenacious, I tell you!
Bedtime
Tangles
High humidity days (let's just say I give a good impression of 1st movie Hermione.)
Low humidity days (The frizz is coming! The frizz is coming!)
Greasy locks. I may like Snape, but I do not want to impersonate his look.
Catching my hair in DH's glasses.
Catching my hair in my glasses
Catching my hair in random buttons (coat hood buttons are the worst)
The unflattering effect on my face.
I love my hair for it's color, texture, thickness and whatnot, but in the end, I like short hair better. And I look better in short hair.
So goodbye cruel whorls! Maybe I'll see you again in another ten years.

Whoever ends up getting a wig made out of that hair is one lucky girl if you do donate it!

Date: 2006-05-05 09:44 pm (UTC)And boy, do I relate to the things you won't miss. My hair has gotten long to the point where I have to watch it when I sit down, and I've lost count of how many times I've accidentally closed the car door on it.

Date: 2006-05-06 12:12 am (UTC)Yeah, long hair looks pretty, but it is such a pain in the butt. Well, sounds like your is more of a pain in the neck via butt. :D

Date: 2006-05-05 11:35 pm (UTC)Color and thickness are the main thing about nice hair -- length is whatever works for you. (Mine's a decent color, tho not as bright as yours, but really thin, so long is not an option AT ALL for me.)

Date: 2006-05-06 02:39 am (UTC)I admire you for donating it. Mine is longer than it's ever been, and I don't have the courage to part with it.
