Babe has the flu. I think it might even be the swine flu, though a very mild case (so far). His cough isn't exactly alarming, though not good, but he isn't keeping anything down, not even water.

I shall start attempting to call the doctor in an hour, though I probably won't get through for two or more hours (I hate their booking policies!) just to see what I should do, beyond keeping him home and trying to keep him hydrated...

Perhaps I should call the emergency room nurses instead? At this hour, they might actually have time for the call... Or give it an hour, when all the anxious moms will be calling the doctors...

Try gingerale---sometimes that will settle the stomach when nothing else will. (good old ginger-water...) Schwepps worked well for me when I had 'something' about 2 weeks ago---I didn't feel like eating all day, but the gingerale settled the stomach nausea so at least I could keep water down. And it kept me hydrated. Good luck to you and Babe!

Thank you for the reminder! I somehow always forget good-ol' ginger ale.

And Babe is feeling much, much better now. He's even holding down food! Yay!

I hope he feels better soon

Almost immediately after I talked to the nurse, he perked up. Instead of "curse of the staircase," it's like a "blessing of the phone call." Or something. I'm not sending him to school tomorrow, though. Just in case it comes back... again.

Thanks!

Oh babe! How it's nothing too serious. If it helps, both my boys had the swine flu, though mild cases, whilst I was in the US.

Love Sonia :)

I figured, silly! ;-D And he's much better. He perked up basically as soon as I talked to the nurse. *shakes head* Figures.

Much, much better. Pretty much as soon as I called the doctor, he started feeling better. (I must figure out that whole call-the-doctor-miracle-cure thing. I know there's money to made there somewhere! ;-) He's been eating, drinking and even playing, so I think the worst is over. Though that still remains to be seen.

Fortunately, he's on the mend again! He started perking up just after I talked to the nurse. Of course. We'll see if it lasts through the night, but hopefully he'll be able to go to school on Friday.
