I came home from dropping Babe off at preschool, ate breakfast (I cook my oatmeal veeeeeery slowly, and no, it's not steel cut oats) which was very yummy, then went to bed, set the alarm and lay down. I'm not sure how much sleep I actually got, as I kept having to force my mind away from certain issues. I don't know how much of that took place awake and how much took place asleep. I was very drowsy and loath to get up when the alarm did go off.

So that was good.

I picked Babe up, and he was talking about having a playdate with a friend (!) from class. The teacher said that the friend left class crying today because he wanted the playdate so much, so, after we got home and settled, I called the friend's mom and we set up a playdate! She was happy I called because Friend was so upset, and wanted it so much.

So that was also good.

And before all this, I had an odd dream involving Ray from Due South (David Marciano) and Fraser and Ray's sister and a really, really cool apartment building and intrigue and cross-dressing (Ray looked odd in a wig, though the dress suited him) and a horse and mountain (fun) slides and... Yeah.

Oh, and the reason I brought the dream up was because in it, at some point, there was a bug crawling across the floor. At first I was a bit creeped out, because it was pretty big and, well, it was a bug inside. But then I got closer to it, intent on either crushing or capturing it so as to release it, and was struck by its iridescence. It was peacock blue and shiny, and, as I looked closer, it had a long strip down the middle of its back that looked just like a square peacock feather, all blues and greens and purples and sheeny.

While we (I can't remember who the other person was) were watching, the bug started unfurling its wings in preparation to fly off. And kept unfurling them. And unfurling. We backed off, and soon this little bug (about an inch long) had wings the size of a scarf, and they were so very beautiful, more beautiful than any butterfly or peacock could dare to hope to have, though unnerving because of how unnatural it was for a little bug to have such wings. Especially because they were rectangular.

The bug caught the slight breeze and soon was floating away, out the window. It wasn't really flying, but it caught and manipulated the breeze to escape. Like a kite.

Anyway, it was nice. And it leaves me feeling hopeful, for a bug to turn into something so beautiful.

And, as I woke, I found an answer to one of my many questions.

Which was very good.
