"To think that we can save the Constitution without God's help when the government of the United States is corrupt is absurdity. We are in America's second Revolutionary War to save our freedom, which we paid for with blood. We need God's help and I'm not ashamed to ask for it."

-- Idaho gubernatorial candidate Rex Rammel

I think Idaho is permanently conflicted by the fact that the state name sounds like its proudly declaring itself a prostitute. If we ever get a 51st state, I hope they call themselves Udaho.

He's LDS - so that is the platform he is running on. There is a Joseph Smith prophesy that goes along those lines.

He's running as an independent. (I live in Idaho.) He doesn't stand a chance of winning. Just for kicks, here is his official platform:

1. Lower Idaho taxes
2. Eliminate burdensome regulations and programs
3. Reform Idaho’s welfare system
4. Move health insurance to Health Savings Accounts
5. Eliminate ‘No Child Left Behind’
6. Deport all illegal immigrants
7. Make English Idaho’s official language
8. Build nuclear power plants
9. Remove all wolves
10. Assert Idaho’s state rights

By the way, I don't think other countries are immune from the occasional crackpot politician. Some of the minor parties' leadership in Germany is downright scary.

Oh, I know other countries aren't immune. It just seems like ours gives a lot more air time to the loonies than most. But then again, I don't have a modern reference point.

Wow, stay where you are, both of you, and send him to MY state! He can represent me any day, and do a better job of it than the idiot Republican we've got now. :P Pity he couldn't let SOME of the wolves live, properly removed from society, of course - but I'll take what I can get!

I wouldnt vote for him based on J. Smith. Those followers were highly discriminatory on one of my jobs.

I agree with everything except the wolf platform.

But if he's a running third party, he won't make it. Not enough mooola.

You have to be rich to win an office.

The current administration is being called on the carpet for lack of promised transparency. Good. They should deliver on transparency, it is not like they are trying to hide anything or are they? Hmmm. They would save themselves a lot of embarassing scruitiny if they just did as they promised. Let C-SPAN in.
