I hate cleaning. I don't object to the mindlessness of it, or even the grossness. I object to the exhaustion that comes after a good hard cleaning seesion.

DH and I chopped up the countertop and three other pieces of wood this weekend, and though it wouldn't seem like that would take two days, it did. There were some fairly tricky cuts to make, and we only had a cheap circular saw and our non-status as carpenters to guide us (I say 'us' as if I did anything to help! I merely looked after Babe and occasionally helped DH move the boards around), but by the time we had finished we were pooped. Knackered, even. We were so tired that I declared all work to be done for the day. DH did all the cutting, so I would do all the cleaning.

That's what I did yesterday. (Bleh, double bleh.) It took half an hour just to sweep the kitchen floor clean of the sawdust (about half a grocery-bag's worth), and there was so much more to do after that. By the end of the day I had accomplished a heck of a lot, though. Not only had I cleaned the kitchen completely (minus the range) but I had sorted out a black garbage bag of clothes for the Sally Ann, a slightly smaller bag of baby clothes to be taken to the consignment shop, and a third pile of baby stuff to send to my sister-in-law. And I managed to get three loads of laundry done.

Wee. (I did warn you that this would be boring.)

So anyway, after that hard day of work, I finished up around 11 and then couldn't get to sleep (Bleh, treble bleh.) probably because of the stupid rootbeer (w/caffeine) which I had at lunch. (Mmcaffeine is bad, m'kay?) And then to top off the crappy night, Babe cried twice, and woke up for good at 6 bloody 30, (Bleh, bleh, bleh, bleh, blah!) though I feigned sleep, and when that didn't work, used pity to get DH to take him.

And then today I had another busy day painting the ceiling and running around town (other way around, really). At least both bags of clothes are now gone, as is the giant thing of diapers that Babe's outgrown (he is too big!  He's not even a year old and he's as big as 18-24 month olds!  Ridiculous) which got donated to the Soup Kitchen, and all I have to do now is send off SiL's stuff. I think that'll happen tomorrow... I'm yet again knackered for today.

Ach well.

As for stories and other good stuff, I'm happy that The Petulant Poetess has accepted "25 Dates," my very silly serial (SS/HG) drabblet. I guess I'll submit the next part tonight.

As for the delay on MaC, I've sent chapter 10 to the cleaners, but my first beta is out of sorts right now (so everyone send her positive vibes), and I forgot to warn my second beta that chapter 10 is my favorite chapter (well, second favorite, now) and therefore will need extensive work as I was loathe to revise it.  So she's probably sitting there looking at it, thinking, "What the heck was Avery on when she wrote this?  She sure wasn't kidding about it being 'rough'!"  And to top it off, I refuse to pressure either of them  because RL takes precedence every time.  My story is only an insignificant dust bunny in the scheme of things.
