Good things

First, Babe listened to me!

Back when he was first learning our address, he took to blurting it out to whoever was passing by. Very shortly thereafter, I told him not to do so, or at least not to strangers unless his dad or I were there and approved.

Well, today Babe went in for his elementary school screening (to make sure he's ready without more prep), and when they came out, the teacher went through the 'test' with me, and said Babe didn't know his address or phone number.

At which point he leaned against me and said them.

OMG, HE LISTENED TO ME WHERE IT MATTERS!!! YAYAYAYAYAY!!!!

I've also had two teachers, that one and his main preschool teacher, tell me that he's amazing and delightful. Preschool teacher thanked me for sharing him with them. She also said that he leads the other kids in imaginative play, meaning that he'll say "Let's do this!" and all the other kids will follow along! Beyond that, though, he now can and does step out of the imaginative play when requested, which was a problem earlier in the year.

YAY!

Third good thing is that the canvas/painting I thought I'd ruined? Not ruined. I have no idea how, but the canvas dent is completely gone!

Yay!

Fourth is a mixed blessing, but definitely and firmly on the good side: my liver is definitely starting to clean itself out thanks to my being very, very good and avoiding everything I should be avoiding. How I know that is that I'm feeling it as all the gunk goes through my system, but I do think that all my recent illishness lately has been that rather than any bugs or nasties. Though there may be an element of mixing.

(The crummy part of this whole cleansing thing is that I really, truly am 'rewarded' for good behavior with feeling ill. My liver is effectively being massaged, and as it relaxes, it dumps stuff out. Blech.

So yay.

Fifth... Beauty. It's finally spring, right and proper, and it is gorgeous. The pear trees lining the roads are all feathery white, the flowering almonds, cherry trees and such are shining balls of fluff, the magnolias are magnificent and the grass is emerald once more (not in our yard, but that's irrelevant).

However, even before everything burst into bloom this week, there were shocks of beauty jumping out at me. Driving back from a trip to the health food store last week, in the drab, drab rain, a little wetland caught my breath. The dead birches rising out of it were covered in minty moss above the dark, glassy water, framed by deep, dark red grasses and dead yellow reeds. It looked kinda like this:

And caught in-between boring tracts of mini-malls and intersections, it packed a powerful punch.

Anyway, I need to go figure out what I can possibly eat for dinner. That's not a good thing, but, well, I'm hungry.

Cheers!
