darth_kittius's post alerted me to some nasty legislation that, if passed, would give the telecommunication business even more power and money than they already have. Here's an op-ed piece in the Washington Post, giving a better idea of what's going on. If you think about it in an Orwellian frame of mind, it is one scary prospect. Even if you aren't a conspiracy theorist, it's still nasty.

Unlike some emails that have gone around in the past, this one is no hoax. Check it out on snopes.com to verify it.

If you're in the US and a voting citizen, please contact your senator and tell him/her that this bill is not cool.
