Okay, I know this question was going around Potter Place a little while ago, but there didn't really seem to be a consensus.

As a reader, if update time weren't a factor (ie: it would be two weeks whether it was 1000 words or 10,000):

It's not that short or long chapters piss me off per se. But I prefer to write shorter chapters. I really have to force myself to write longer chapters, and when I say 'force', I mean it.

But some stories call for long chapters, while other chapters call for short chapters. Something light, humorus, and fun... shorter chapters seem to 'feel' right. The angsty dramas... the longer ones feel right. Although I really can't handle much longer than 5-6k for most stories. It's not that I lose interest, it's that I'm afraid that I'll miss something.
