My (post-algebra-fomented rage) feelings are best summed up by one of the (more rational, if ungrammatical) commenters:

"The man is obviously suffering from a bit of senility which is no legitimate reason for some looking for a shot at Republicans to suggest that he represents that political party.

His family and his friends should never have allowed him to embarrass himself in such a maner and the people who voted for him I am sure were well intended but not too overly bright.

I feel sorry for all involved. I had a 95 year old Dad who said some pretty peculiar and embarrassing things in his dotage but he was a good person all the way through.

Those who malign him are those who ought to be the most compassionate, as they are the ones who already deal with those who are disabled and therefore should recognize the signs.

(Thank god he resigned, though! My god...! Hopefully, if the county does call for a special election, the voters will be a little more... judicious?)

He said in his resignation that didn't even know what id was voting on for most of the time!

I know! Scary, eh? He obviously is not with it, though knows how to fake it in a private setting.

I guess this is a good lesson in reactionary politics... Too bad reactionary voters are the least likely to learn the lesson.
