I didn't sleep well (I have too much bitch in me, I suppose), so I'm feeling a little snarky this morning. And after reading the first headline listed below, I thought I'd troll for more. This is all from Yahoo News.


"Vitamins May Increase Women's Risk of Dying, Research Finds"

Because we're immortal otherwise...

"Chinese fury as US Senate passes currency bill"

Unfortunately, I don't think that is translated from Chinese...

And the winner (because it made me laugh hard at the level of understatement):

"EU says Chiquita, Pacific Fruit ran banana cartel"

So the last one... not so funny from the Costa Rica point of view. What the US does to other countries now for oil, used to be what they did for fruit. "Banana Republic" means a puppet gov't set up by foreign gov'ts and fruit interests for the convenience of foreign exploitation. But that's an ugly history for another time.

That's why I found it funny, because it understated the situation (of old) SO egregiously. I mean, the article was about more recent activity (2004-5), but to call to mind the Banana Republics and say they're a mere "cartel" is... absurd.
