Le sigh

So, the group project was a no-go today. It will now happen next week. Oh joy, oh rapture.

Seems B is a little more emotionally invested in getting a good grade on this than I am. She stayed up all night last night organizing and whatnot, and was really quite on edge by the time we all met up this morning.

And then the classroom was hot. And, really, it was very, very warm in that classroom. I was getting overheated, which indicates it was WAY too warm in there. So, what with the overwhelming stress of getting a good grade on the project, no sleep, general performance anxiety, and overheating, B went to the teacher at break and told her that if she stayed in the room any longer, she was going to faint. Teacher said, "Go home, then!" B let teacher know about the presentation (we think she forgot there was supposed to be a presentation), and she said, "Do it next week."

So.

This theoretically gives us more time to prepare, but honestly, I think it just gives us more time to stress over it. It will be good to meet one more time and maybe get a little more clear on the organization of the whole thing, but really, I was looking forward to having this over and done with so I could focus on the term paper that's due in two weeks with a clear conscience.

Oh well.

However, there are good things going on! Very good things!

I am signed up for next semester. I could not get into one of the classes I wanted (script writing) because I haven't taken College Composition, the prereq. However, the advisor looked at my placement scores and suggested I try to test out of the requirement ("A cheap way of getting four credits," he said). So, once the semester is done, I will look into doing that. I so don't want to spend (lots of) money on a course that would bore the bejeezus out of me. And the script-writing class will be offered again next spring, so it's not like I'm missing an opportunity. Just delaying it.

The other good news about signing up is that I don't have any lab credits next semester, so it'll be that much cheaper. Yay!

(The only bad thing about school this week is that I literally fell asleep in class on Tuesday. Oops. Fortunately, it was a micronap, and I made sure before I closed my eyes that the teacher couldn't see that I had my eyes closed. However... I'm rather embarrassed about that.)

Let's see... Another good thing is that it is BEAUTIFUL out. As soon as I have put in an hour on writing the first page (of four) of my term paper, I am going out and planting all the bulbs I have! I will probably have to plant more later as well, since the ones I ordered through the school fundraiser haven't come in yet, but the ground should be soft for a few weeks yet. I hope.

The best thing, however, is Page's artwork won a place on the city's recycling calendar!

The city sponsored a contest wherein kids in the after-school programs were invited to learn about recycling and then make a drawing to promote it. There were 154 entries and, I'm guessing, 12 winners, whose artwork goes onto the calendar. Page was one of three student from his school to win.

There's going to be a presentation at City Hall next Tuesday, where the kids are formally recognized and given their prizes (including the nice gift for the entire family of a nifty new recycling bin!).

I am SO proud of him! I am SO thrilled for him! And I can't wait to see the drawing! ~bounces~

BLECH to too-hot classrooms, but yay to having another week to work on things! I hope B's response really was because the room was warm and not because she was freaking out.

And FFS, they're not letting YOU into a class because of a WRITING requirement?? Yes, test out of that. You can do it with your eyes closed while typing with your toes. Lame that it had to delay the class you really wanted to take, but at least it looks like you can take it soon.

Ooo, congratulations to Page!! I'll bet you're busting your buttons! Enjoy the beautiful weather, love!!

Congratulations to Page!

Pooh to having to take Writing for Dummies. Honestly. *rolls eyes*

And as for sleeping in class. I did that at uni once. Right in front of the lecturer. And they tell me I snored. And you tell me you're embarrassed.

YAY FOR PAGE!!!!! Woot!!

I fell asleep in a college class too. It was English lit, only about ten of us in class so it was obvious. My excuse is the professor spoke in a monotone and it was right after lunch. He never said anything. Honest, I tried to stay awake!

Yay Page!!!

At one point I had a class that was 1) right before or after lunch (I forget) 2) underground so no windows so that it was 3) VERY warm, 4) it was a huge lecture class that had 5) a foreign prof that spoke English in a monotone. I used to count sleeping people to keep myself awake. At one point only 5 of 51 were awake!!! LOL
