And it was a good visit. She thinks Page definitely falls within the ADHD spectrum, but she's as adverse to medicating him as we are. She's going to write a letter to the school recommending accommodations where his curriculum is concerned, because she agrees that he's quite intelligent and is not going to bother focusing on things he already knows. (YES!!!!!)

And that means we'll have the perfect right to ask for a special ed evaluation, with the focus on the cognitive eval to show that really, he's been bored out of his mind the last six months. Of course he's a disruptive trouble maker being bored like that.

*satisfied, evil grin*

Now I have to concentrate on finishing up (starting) my homework due tomorrow. I'm probably going to skip the class itself because of the whole spring break thing, but I can still hand in my homework on time electronically.

Still have to figure out what to do on Wednesday, though. Need to go to that class. *shrug*

Ah well.

Oh, and it is raining. Ground is puddly from the amount of rain. Someone in the nearby hills said they got 2.29 inches in the last 24 hours, which is more than the total precipitation we got from Dec. 30 to yesterday. We be dry here. So I sure am glad it's raining, even if it does mean stiff joints.

YES!!! *punches air*

Shame that you need a special ed evaluation - it should be normal for schools to not bore the bright kids. Of course they make trouble if they're bored. But if you do get one, my fingers are so crossed for Page getting everything he needs.

*twirls you around*

I think the majority of this year's problems rest on it being Page's teacher's first year. First years are rough on everyone. (I can only imagine how hard it's been for her! I know Page is not the only difficult child in her class, and I don't think the other problem children are bored...)

What a relief it must have been to have a pediatrician thinking like you!

What a relief indeed! {{hugs}} I hope this will result in Page getting what he needs out of school instead of what's been happening.

Thank goodness!!! Grr Page's stupid school needs a kick in the ass and hopefully this will do it. I told my husband (who is an LMHC) about you and Page's situation and he was VERY angry on your behalf and said that it doesn't matter how smart Page is, if he has ADHD he needs an IEP and that he deserves help and attention just as much as anyone else and *ranty mcrant rant* So yeah, my household is rooting for you guys!

To be fair, the school told us we needed an official diagnosis. On the other hand, if they had told us that they needed a diagnosis for the funding needed to provide an IEP, then we might have been a leeetle more proactive than we were.
This school really does have communication problems.

Thank you for the moral support! I'm glad to know good people are behind us.
