Why am I doing this?
May. 5th, 2012 03:34 pmI just typed out twenty-three pages of past tests to use as study guides. Why did I bother typing them out, when I have the tests handy? Probably because I'm a masochist.
Really, it's because the tests themselves are marked up to the point of distraction, so it's not just a case of covering up the answers. However, now that I'm done with that, I really don't want to waste the paper to print them out (12 pages, double sided! NO!), and hardly feel like taking them at all.
But 23 single-spaced pages! And each test (there were 5 total, I only retyped the 4 I have) worth only 5% of the grade. It seems to me an awful waste of the teacher's time and energy creating these massive "quizzes" and then grading them (on top of the homework essays). Especially because they are all multiple choice (or true false) questions, and therefore pretty damn easy if you've reviewed the material recently. No essays, no fill-in-the-blanks, nothing that challenges one to actually retain the knowledge rather than rely on word recognition (though I suppose there is a certain poetic resonance for a business class to rely on word (name) recognition...).
Ach well. One more test and I am done with that class. (And I get what I pay for. Maybe.)
I guess it's time to move onto studying accounting. Which is more fun, anyway. Oh, and that reminds me that I need to email the professor to ask which books he'll be using for next semester's courses...
But first a shower. I think it's time to start to get moving for the day.
