Well, Geoff and I managed to spread the pile of dirt and insert a step up from the paved walkway into the yard.

Before that, however, the boys went to church and I: mowed the lawn, weeded the veggie beds, transplanted the lady fern out front to the back (and a baby leatherwood fern, too), and weeded the bed by the front of the house in preparation for lots of dirt being spread.

I'm pooped. Geoff might be even more pooped than I am (he definitely did more of the dirt moving), however, he's being a sweetheart and making dinner as I proscribed it (roasted zucchini; green beans; onions, cilantro and mushrooms; and carrot-mushroom beef burgers). All with the new propane tank we got during the hottest part of the day.

Oh yeah. It was hot while we did all that. Well, except for the parts I did while the boys were at church. In fact, I stayed home specifically so I could use the cooler part of the day to labor outside.

So, I think I will be taking tomorrow off. Even if I decide to go out and fertilize the back garden tonight, before it rains tomorrow. But only if my hip allows me to. ;-)

I got muddy outside yesterday, too. It was the best part of the w/e.
