~remembers to exhale~
This teaching thing is scary. Really, really scary. I have no experience, ya'll. I also have been out of the portraiture business for ages. Aaaaaaaages. ~wibbles~
~breathes deeply again, remembering to exhale~
Ah well. It's for a good cause. And I am sure I'll be able to convey the basics (which is all a two hour course will allow for). And, if I get my butt in gear, I might even be able to provide some paperwork thingies for the students to take with them when they go.
(Oh shit. Just remembered something I forgot to do. Crappity crap crap crap. Ah well. Easily remedied with a phone call. Bleh.)
~breathes~
As for what has passed, I took my College Comp CLEP yesterday, and while I have no idea how I did on the multiple choice section, I think I did fairly well on the essay portions. Two essays in 70 minutes. Yeah, they were short essays. But, I think I did reasonably well. Well enough to demonstrate I know how to write in a fairly logical fashion, anyway (when I put my mind to it). And besides, I only need a 50 to pass. I'll find out how I did around my birthday (happy birthday to me?) (Last night I dreamt I got a 72 (out of 80). I was one happy camper till I woke up and realized it was a dream.)
The landscape dudes still haven't sodded our lawns, but we now have two arborvitae, one on either side of our front step. And a little shrub of some sort (cornus alba "halo": variegated dogwood shrub) hiding the sewer access pipe. And they transplanted the eunonymous to beside the power pole for me. They offered to plant the magnolia I'm going to get, but I realize that the timing is all wrong for me, and that I'll just have to do the work myself. I can't spare the time today, and I didn't have the energy last night to fetch it from my friend.
~wibbles~ I guess I should get to work, but it sure would be nice to wake up, first.
When I have time, I will post pics of my front garden Siberian irises. They're really pretty. Two (and a half) deep purple ones, and one (with another bud) beautiful yellow and white one. I think I'm just going to give up on the sodding happening to my schedule and start planting this weekend (eta: ooh! The sod has arrived! Ooh! Ooh!). After finishing the walkway (still need to sand it, hence* the lack of pictures of our accomplishments), that is.
Oh, and I also reached the halfway mark in the Big Book of Sherlock. I'm thinking of skipping to the next novel and leaving the rest for later in the summer, except I don't want to miss anything about Mycroft. Not that I'll have time to read anything for pleasure today. ~shrugs~
(* I realized as I finished up my CLEP that when I'm tired, my language gets very old fashioned. My mind was starting to flounder where vocabulary was concerned (did I mention it was sweltering in the testing room? And it had been for nearly two hours?); I was finishing up the second essay, and I was about to use the word "hence", but then thought it was rather old fashioned. But I couldn't think of another word, except "thence". Which is what I used. ~cringes~ Ah well.)
Right. I'm going to have a cup of tea. Hopefully it's been long enough for my stomach to accept it gracefully, 'cause I need the warmth and want the caffeine.
And then... to work. Meep.
