Well.

I had my first late-summer allergy attack this morning. So, after getting back from Page's swimming lessons, I took two benadryl and slept for about 5 hours. And I would still like to go back to sleep, even if I don't dare because of ruining the progress I've made on readjusting myself to this time zone. My eyes are still on the itchy/goopy side of normal, unfortunately. And last time I tried, eye drops only increased the itchiness. :-(

Worst thing is, I have no idea what I'm allergic to. It's probably something in the house, though, as they say the pollen level is low outside. (Granted, on the other side of the back fence, there is a weed blooming away, and I think it is something I'm allergic to even if most people aren't.)

I'm also feeling blerghy because it's been unpleasantly hot and humid since I got back. This kind of heat is like a bad date: it's seemingly impossible to escape from the grasping, sticky hands.

Can I go back to sleep now?

(Answer: No. I have to stay awake if only to keep myself hydrated, damn it.)

I told Geoff last night that I would like to move out of the country if Romney/Ryan wins the election. I would have a hard time bearing living in a country where people are so blatantly and determinedly stupid. Fortunately, I don't (really) think that will come to pass; I think Romney's actually trying to lose (like McCain did last election). Either that, or he is stunningly clueless, which doesn't seem likely to me, given his private career success.

The thought of Romney for president wasn't that bad, but Ryan for VP just... It makes me cringe and shudder. Not as much as Cheney did, but close. He's just such a... a... dickhead. A fervently idealistic dickhead. Ah well. But so are most politicians, really.

But I shouldn't end on such a negative note. What's good...?

Payday is today. Due to mental fuzziness, I thought it was next week. That it is today is particularly good news because yesterday was an exceptionally expensive day, what with paying this semester's tuition yesterday, and next Wednesday I have two doctor's appointments.

Another plus side is that it's only a week and a half till Page goes back to school.

My kale is glorious. And I even have one zucchini growing on one of the squash vines. (I swear that's the first female blossom of the entire summer, however. And there have been loads of blossoms!)

Hm... good thing, good things... The dishes are clean?

I guess I'll just have to be a grump. At least I'm good at it. ;-)
