At the moment, Page is convinced that the funniest thing in the entire world is the word 'chicken'. He will intersperse conversation with random exclamations such as, "I like chicken!" and "is that a chicken?!" Sometimes, it's simply, "Chicken!"
I have no idea where this came from. I have no idea how long it's going to last. I do enjoy that this is a good sign where development of a sense of humor is concerned. I also enjoy his laugh, especially when it's pure and uncontrolled. He has such a great laugh (still).
On the downside, it doesn't exactly offer stimulating conversation. We spent dinner doing an odd, silly guessing game that concerned the definition of chicken.
On the plus side, I'm tired enough that I found it all pleasantly silly and quite enough stimulation for the time being.
For a person who says she really, really wants a newish car in the new year, I certainly am doing a lousy job at saving up for it. I went out Christmas shopping again this morning, after doing some shopping online (again) last night, and have securedfour five! out of Page's five Christmas presents. (Since we're spending Christmas morning with my sister, she asked how many presents Page is getting because they like to keep things even for the kids. I figured five was less Grinchy than what he had been going to get, which was two (plus stocking stuffers). Oh. Rats.)
And then, as if expanding the Christmas shopping list wasn't enough, I went and bought a gel mattress topper for my bed. I can (and will) justify this in the budget as a medical purchase, as my back (and Geoff's, too) is in serious need of care, and we can't shell out for a new mattress on top of everything else. But, well, that's a pretty big chunk of change I just dropped, seeing as I'm trying to save for a newish car. And I'm justifying having bought it now so that it can air out while we're away.
*sigh*
Discipline, I hazn't gots it. (Justification skillz, now those I got!)
Hopefully we'll be able to borrow my BIL's car while we're in their area... (Though I did promise to pay for the detailing (odor removal) should we do so... *rolls eyes at self*)
Another area where my discipline has been failing, mightily, is trying to avoid tea. I'm (still) pretty sure I'm sensitive/borderline-allergic to it. But, well, it's tea! And I'm of English stock, so I should be able to drink gallons of it, shouldn't I? However, seeing as my allergies have been rather excessive lately, and seeing as I have another year to go before I can get on semi-decent insurance again, I'd damn well better take care of myself, hadn't I?
Oh, and speak of that devil. I've had a tickly throat all day, and have just now started developing a cough. Like the one Geoff has. With chesty reverberations. Right. Handful of drugs (benadryl and aleve), and perhaps make it a really early night by going to bed right now.
That was a lot ramblier than I intended. Ah well. I'm operating on two (maybe three) hours of sleep, and you know what? I'm tired. And I'm also off to bed. Right. Now.
G'nite!
