Starting to feel human again

So, good things!
1. Yesterday, a snow day (which really was a Good Thing in itself), Geoff and I were watching the latest Castle, the plot of which was basically unraveling "The Ring" type murders (two people receiving mysterious package with DVD, watch the DVD, then die three days later at the stroke of midnight, just as DVD said they would).
We had just got to the point where Kate and Castle (who's convinced he and Kate both are going to die, too, having watched the DVD) have arrived at the lonely cabin in the middle of nowhere, no reception, and all the other slasher-flick tropes, when the doorbell rings. Our real life doorbell.
Wondering who would possibly be ringing our doorbell in the early afternoon, Geoff went to answer the door. He came back with a big, blue bag marked "Great Britain".
Inside the bag was an anonymous package addressed to me.
LOL, right?
Well, anyway, I opened the package, and there inside was a new, complete, box-set of the Narnia books!!!
I don't know if I brought my grumbling about the local library's lack of "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" on here, but I had been grumbling about it on FB. A friend pointed out that the library does have "The Chronicles of Narnia," which is one big book of all seven books, but that, yeah, theft happens, so no individual books there. :-(
But anyway, I have no idea who sent me this gift. I am thrilled to pieces, though. It's the kind of random (yet specific) kindness that is exciting and energizing and completely happy-making. And if it was one of you, Thank You!!! You made my day!
2. I had one of those long, logical, theatrical dreams last night. Although I woke up feeling like it took place over the entire night, flashes of previous dreams (which had certain similarities) have come to me since waking more thoroughly.
I was driving along somewhere with someone when we passed a billboard advertizing the new Sandra Bullock movie, "The Flower Girl". The person with me exclaimed how she wanted to see that, as the book was so good. She then explained how it was about the female version of Johnny Appleseed - a woman whose mission it was to change the very soil of this country* by spreading flower seeds everywhere.
We were then in the movie, following Rachel(?) as she made her way across the wild and rocky west. It was the time of the pioneers, and she explained how she had decided to go as far west as was humanly possible, as she'd accidentally given the coach driver her return fare as a tip.
She'd reached a little oasis of civilization in the form of a newly established national park. The park's structures were built on a steep mountainside, so there were stairs everywhere. Wooden stairs, metal stairs, rickety stairs, spiral stairs, all kinds of stairs. As she navigated down the stairs, throwing seeds as she went, she met a park ranger. He was worried for her, as she expressed her interest in going beyond the park's bounds, down the mountains, down as far as she could go. He warned her that the cliffs were treacherous, the pathways almost nonexistent; she'd need to have the footing of a mountain goat, and the eyes of an eagle to make it.
She smiled and said, "Teach me. I'll learn."
So he did. And she recruited him to join her on her journey of adding color to the wastelands, bringing happiness to those who saw it.
And throughout the dream, she benefited from the kindness of strangers. When her food was running low, a servant/slave working in a kitchen threw her two eggs as she passed by. A man carried her (small) load for her, as she ran to catch the last wagon out. And as she made her plans to venture out of known land, she collected these people, inviting them along in her quest.
And as she learned how to navigate the cliff sides with the park ranger (and his dog)'s help, she and he fell in love. Without saying so, of course.
The dream ended as complications arose in the form of a past beau, and "the Wasp" (Meryl Streep as a truly venomous woman with really bad make-up) coming upon Rachel and her party, and asking to go along. Rachel said of course, they would complete the party. But, in the confrontations, truths were revealed and she thought the the park ranger wouldn't want her anymore. (But he, of course, was as steady as the rocks they were all to cross.)
*I say "this country," but I felt positive they were going west, and yet, they were coming to the front range of Colorado from the mountains. Sooooo, yeah, not this country. Dream!America.
3. I woke up from my nap this morning (I took the day off sick, along with everyone else in the house) with my eyes almost normal looking. Not quite there yet, as I can still feel their distress, but getting there. I also woke up with the stirrings of energy. I even considered going to lab! I thought better of it, though, seeing as I've been ill for more than a week, and this is the first flush of energy, that flush always being a tempting lure into overdoing it. And seeing as I'm getting pooped again already, I think I made the correct choice in not going. (Not to mention that it's also the microbiology lab, and seeing as my immune system is just getting the edge on this thing, I don't want to be subjecting it to who knows what nastiness that might be lurking on the counters.)
4. Pumpkin muffin loaf. Yum.
5. I've been off tea for a week. I still want it every now and again, but I'm doing very well at replacing that craving with something that's better for me, whether it's hot, flavored, gelatin, bone broth, tea-less flu brew, or mint tea (last resort, as it's not very good for me, either). So yay me. :-)
And now I need to go, as my eyes are starting to complain again.

Date: 2013-03-20 09:05 pm (UTC)The pumpkin muffin loaf sounds good. I should make a loaf of pumpkin spice bread this weekend. (It's just a mix, but it'll do.)
Yay new books! (It wasn't me.) It's lovely when someone listens and does something nice like that.
