This is the first post made from the new computer. The shiny new computer that refused to work with the internet, even after we got a router. I guess the router was homesick and needed a time of adjustment before deciding to work properly. Nothing else changed.

So, in celebration of this momentous occasion, here is a tip of culinary decadence: White stilton with lemon goes FANTASTICALLY with apple pie, especially if the pie is on the tart side. Just serve on the side of the pie or crumbled on top of it. Deliciousness will ensue, I promise you.

Congratulations on the shiny new internet connection! I feel like decorating a tree or dyeing some eggs to celebrate. Perhaps I'll compromise and dye a tree- or just appreciate what few fall colors grace us in SoCal (a magnolia tree outside my apartment has these cool fist-sized buds with bright red mini-buds on it). That's weird about the router- something similar happened to my in-laws. What really happened, as it turned out, the phone company hadn't actually turned on their DSL yet, even though they were told that it was up and running while we were trouble-shooting.

When I was little, and read Tasha Tudor's "A Time to Keep," one of the images that stood out was that cheese was served with apple pie. As an ritual partaker of pie a'la mode, it struck me as blasphemy. Now that I'm a pseudo-adult, the thought of lemon stilton paired with apple pie sends me into orbit. Yum! Than you so much for the tip! I'm always looking for new ways to enjoy cheese!

Thank you! So, is dying a tree like dying carnations? Soak it in food coloring? *gets out hose and attaches fertilizer thingy* LOL.

I'm not sure I read that book, but I remember hearing of cheese with apple pie and thinking nearly the same thing. Of course, when I was a kid "cheese" was cheddar. Extra, extra sharp cheddar. I still don't like cheddar, and although I'll admit it goes well with apples... *shudders*
