Annoying first so as to get it out of the way:

- Even after four days of continuous heat and no rain, there are still puddles in the new backyard. Algae is growing on them, they've been around so long. God only knows how many mosquitoes have been spawned since the last downpour. And, it turns out, one of the reasons things are progressing so slowly out back is because they've discovered drainage problems. Like, water-sitting-on-our-roof kind of drainage problems. (Our roofs are flat, and have no gutters, instead using a pipe drain into the ground, which, apparently, was ineffective because there's no drainage because, well, swampland. Supposedly they have solved that, but, well, the sitting puddles leave me doubtful that drainage has improved much for the rest of the area. I foresee many, many hours of adding many, many bales of peat moss into the garden area this fall.)

- Conjunctivitis has reared its ugly head again. I've set my phone to remind me to take the antibiotic drops every 4 hours for a solid ten days. Well, I didn't set the ten days' bit - that will be manually counted via simple addition or subtraction and a paper calendar. I'm pretty sure it's bacterial this time, as there's other buggy stuff going on, too.

- Page is ill with... something. Might be a stye, might be conjunctivitis, might just be allergies. If his eye isn't looking better by tomorrow morning (after a dose of benadryl tonight), then it's off to the doctor on the morrow...

- which also sees Geoff leaving with a one-way ticket to our old stomping grounds. Part of me is happy that he'll be around old friends and that there's the possibility of his family seeing him, but, well... One-way tickets away from home are never great. Even if he has promised faithfully (with lots of motivation) to be back before the 31st.

The not-so-annoying:

- Page's OT appointment was today, and it seems a hopeful thing. Also, I got a good ten pages of homework read while he was in there.

- I was able to spend most of today lounging around reading in an air-conditioned space while Page napped. Very nice, that. (Not that I wish illness on my son, but a nap now and then? HELL YES!)

- I got up when I woke up, went outside (after eating), and got an hour in the garden before it got ungodly hot outside. I managed to prune half of my lavenders into looking less... pitiful, which is very nice. Even if it made me sneeze a bit. ;-)

- And my daisies continue to be marvelous bearers of joy. The asters are budding out, too!

So, it's not too bad around here. Honest. I'm just wordier when I bitch and moan. ;-)
