- New Year's intentions:

-- call my diet what it is - a lifestyle. 'Diet' implies impermanence, while 'lifestyle' is a far more accurate description of what needs to happen.
-- exercise at least half an hour a week. Build up my sodding muscles to the point where I can start exercising my heart.
-- attend those parent corner meetings at the school.
-- Cut down on ellipses.

- While I have enjoyed this vacation of the boys, I am definitely ready for them to go back to their respective day jobs. I want my house back to myself.

- I need to stop torturing myself. One of my friends is trying to get a service dog, and it's reignited my banked desire for our own dog. So, just out of curiosity, I went looking at the rescue dogs in the area. Dumb, dumb idea. While most of the dogs are adorable lab mixes (which are cute and utterly incompatible due to my allergies and their shedding), there was a schnauzer mix who looked exactly like what I want. Exactly.

There is no way we are in a position for a dog at this time. Not in time, money, energy or health. And I am REALLY not in a position to test my health's limits by adding a known allergen of any severity to the household. Not until I'm on health insurance at the very least (and, looking at the federal SHOP site, it looks like that might be affordable come next enrollment period!).

So, yeah. Silly, masochistic me. I need to not even think about it until I've graduated, have a (part-time) job, and decent health insurance. So two years from now, maybe a dog can be the family's big Christmas present.

- Tomorrow we're starting the AIP protocol which prohibits all nightshades (along with dairy, eggs and numerous other things, so as to find out what we're all actually sensitive to. Unlike the lifestyle foods we're eating, this is a temporary diet), and so I decided to make us a blow-out dinner feast last night of Mexican. O.M.G. I forgot how much I like my homemade "Mexican" food. Hell, I forgot how much I like the smell of canned green chilies! Anyway, I made turkey enchilada casserole, mashed sweet potatoes with green chilies, and Mexican rice. So SO good. Filling, too. I just wish Page could eat eggs, 'cause otherwise I would have made coconut milk flan to complete the meal. *shrugs* It was great without it anyway.

- I still haven't gotten the Christmas cards out. I have made progress in that I have gotten the Christmas cards out of the drawer in preparation for sending, but, well...

- Geoff and I have been binge-watching "Dollhouse" and we are three episodes from the very end. I don't think we'll be able to finish it off before the year end, but we'll probably get a chance tomorrow.

That's about it. I hope this coming year brings all of you more pleasure than pain, or at least brings the changes that are necessary for you to become healthier, wealthier, and wiser. ;-)

Cheers!
