Okay, so I have a lot to do. What better way to avoid doing it all than by listing everything I have to do, right?
Tomorrow: Guests over for dinner!!!
Preparation: today - clean. clean. clean. make spaghetti sauce and possibly the bread. Have a dose of caffeine to banish brain fog and get me through the (remains of the) day.
Tomorrow - prepare everything that hasn't been done yet, or needs to be done last minute (bread and/or sauce, if nec., lemon sponge, wash fruits) and clean up mess. Relax and enjoy. Try not to embarrass myself.
Saturday: Do as much painting as possible (only a week left to finish! Eek!)
Figure out what dessert I'm going to take to the circle dinner. For 8 adults and a gazillion kids. Help. Ice cream? and cake? Or pies? How many pies? What kind?
Sunday: Make some sort of birthday cake for Babe (check out zucchini quality) and prepare for M&M to come over. Er, maybe a sensory deprevation tank would be a good idea. Know any for sale really cheap?
Monday: Paint. rest. rest. rest. Try not to kill Babe. It's not his fault I'm over socialized.
Tuesday: repeat.
Wednesday: Paint. Clean. Clean. Pack.
Thursday: (Oh fuck, I haven't called the taxi yet! Need to call the taxi!) Fly off into the wild blue yonder. Try to corral Babe for ten hours.
Friday 17th - Wednesday 29th: Try to see everyone. Maybe letting some people know we're coming would be a good idea. Would they forgive us if we didn't see them? (Doesn't count you,
zalena. I'll need your number again, though. (I lost my address book and DH has a different cell now.)
Thursday Nov. 30th: Get up way, way too early and spend another ten hours corralling Babe. Pray for no bad weather or delays.
December 1st: Rest. Try to persuade Babe that he really wants to sleep the day away. Really.
December 2nd: Hang pictures in Fellowship Gallery. Hopefully they'll all be dry by then. Write and print up some bullshit about how I work as an artist and my methods, inspiration, yada yada yada.
December 3rd: Church. Try not to die of embarrassment or be too chuffed. Remember to say "thank you" when complemented, and try not cry if they're only saying it to be nice.
Dec. 4th - 13th: Try to keep house clean. Try not to wear myself out. Arrange office to fit bed in it.
Dec 14th: Remember to call my sister to wish her happy birthday. Feel guilty. Pick up parents at Logan. (Is the tunnel open again?)
Dec 15th - 23th: Try not to argue with dad (games. must remember games). Oh, and paint dad's portrait as requested by mum. Remember to take advantage of them being here and go on a few dates with DH. Buy and send Christmas presents at some point.
Dec. 24th: Remember to call brother and wish him happy birthday.
Dec 25th: Merry Christmas!
Dec 26th - Jan 3rd: Try not to argue with dad or mum. Stay warm in basement. Go on at least one more date. At some point take paintings down or arrange to keep them up for another month, whichever's needed.
Jan 4th: Take parents back to airport. Move back into our bedroom and relish luxury of good bed and warmish floors.
Jan 5th: rest. recooperate. try to persuade Babe he really wants to sleep the day away.
I am going to be soooooo peopled out. Ach well. Hopefully I'll survive with my sanity (and relationships) in tact.

Just... try to relax some and enjoy yourself! :D

Date: 2006-11-09 11:34 pm (UTC)At least I should be able to relax when we're visiting DH's folks. They're laid back people, and we won't have a bajillion people to visit while there (and those who we want to see will come see us instead us travelling).
If I can get through this weekend, I think I'll manage to relax and enjoy. :-j

Date: 2006-11-09 10:03 pm (UTC)I recommend something that doesn't take much preparation time, but since there are so many kids, small cookies might be a good call so they can feed themselves and not make a sticky mess, just a crumbly one. Something not involving many utensils (again cookies, or small finger food) would be ideal.

Date: 2006-11-09 11:36 pm (UTC)Cookies! Great idea! Now I just need to make five or six dozen.

Date: 2006-11-10 02:23 pm (UTC)Or bake a hearty bread that is easily handheld. Like thick banana bread, or better, a flat of gingerbread. Not the shaped cookie kind, but the thick, cake, kind. (I have a recipe for this, but I suspect Ash's is also good.)

Date: 2006-11-11 02:22 am (UTC)I did note that your sister's birthday is the same day as mine. Woo hoo!
Make sure that in the middle of all this, you put your feet up once in a while, if only for thirty seconds.

Date: 2006-11-13 04:37 am (UTC)Your birthday's the 14th? Well, howdy, there, Sagitarius!
Oh, for certain I will! I refuse to wear myself down beyond repair again. I can't afford to be laid out for months just because of a busy holiday schedule. It's counterproductive.
