Still can't access friends' page. Bleh.

I'm back, btw. I managed to survive the trip. Barely. Nasty cold (not bronchitis, I swear *coughcough*), sleep deprivation and screaming, homesick toddler have weakened me, though, so it will be a while before I catch up.

Anything important happen in your lives? Please let me know. I'm struggling with withdrawal here.

*hugs you* Hey, there! I'm glad you survived, though I'm very sorry you're sick.

Not much going on in my neck of the woods. My Pride and Prejudice sheet music arrived on Saturday, so I'm as much at the piano as I am at the computer, this week. Found a new author to beta for, and am getting the first four chapters of her new story back to her. Lovely Thanksgiving with the family, in which I avoided K.P. by monopolizing the little niece and faking a turkey coma. Work bites, but that's nothing new. Spending way too much money on Christmas/birthday presents already, so my plan to re-claim my little patio/garden from a plant that resembles Audrey II has turned into a birthday gift for the mother. (It was worth the spider bites to see the look on her face when she saw the progress I made on Saturday.)

See? Nothing big. Just the usual RL merde, good and bad.

*hands over a bowl of chicken noodle soup, a glass of orange juice, and two echinacea caplets* Now go to bed and take care of yourself!

Thanks. I'll get better now that I'm home. Travelling does not agree with me. :-(

Oh, the RL sounds nice, besides work, that is. Which P&P? It must be 2005, since the BBC version's soundtrack is Mozart, isn't it? (There are enough notes for it to be his, anyway).

Chicken soup. Now that's a good idea. Bed is also a good idea. I got ten hours of sleep last night, and I'm still tired. And now that I'm mostly caught up with all ya'lls lives (the unlocked versions, anyhow), I think I might do that. After making some soup, that is. :-)

The sheet music I bought is the 2005 P&P -- it's pretty complex stuff. I can manage the simplest piece at about half the intended tempo right now ... but continual improvement is what practice is for, right?

I also have some other stuff on order, including moderately-complex arrangements from S&S, some stuff from Emma, the 1995 P&P, and the songbook from Love Actually that I bought soley for "Glasgow Love Theme," which is the music featured in this fan video: Reflections. The L.A. songbook was rather pricey -- especially since it's coming from the UK with the other book I mentioned -- but it's worth it. (I think this is why I've never really dedicated myself to piano practice before; I never had stuff to play that I actually liked. Even the adult beginner piano books all have "Jingle Bells" and "Hound Dog" in them. Boring!)

I think the 1995 BBC version's music was written for the production, but I don't remember the composer's name. It was terribly complex, though; you're right about that!

I have caught the mother's cold, so I'm taking a half day here at work and going home to snuggy pajamas, a comfortable recliner, and some chicken soup, myself. I doubt I'll be going to my nieces' birthday party tomorrow, and I'm in agony over that -- my older niece was in Vegas with her father on Thanksgiving, so I didn't get to see her then.

Continue resting up and getting yourself better, and I shall endeavor to do the same! *hugs you*

I'm sorry you're not feeling 100%! Things are mad in 42land. SS/HG Exchange entru amd pinch-jhit have been taking up time, as have various singing nonsense. Thanksgiving with in-laws was transcendant- how fun is it to have a retired father-in-law who wants to learn guitar in record speed? (very!) I danced in public for the first time in a number of years (belly dancing, no less), which was great... I got a dolllar to put in my coin belt. Hurrah for tips! Mr. 42 and I are heading up to the Strong Ale Festival tomorrow and Saturday- friends coming from out of town and everything. I hope you and toddler will be well-rested, comforted, and loved into wellness. Much love to you!

Oh, how lovely! That sounds like a fun calendar you've just run through. I hope the Strong Ale Festival is as much fun as you want it to be!

Thank you!

Strong Ale is my favorite festival of the year because the only thing the entrants have in common is that they're all at least 8% ABV. Thus, you don't just get one style or one consistency. And with nearly 70 offerings to sample... well, let's just say you plan to be there a loooong time unless you have a designated driver. Add friends visiting to the equation, and it's a good time. The other cool thing is that the weather's cold so I can wear my heavy knitted Slytherin scarf. YAY! Y'know, alcohol has been used for years to remedy all manner of ailments, plus it kills germs. Perhaps that will be the key to your recovery? ;)

Welcome back.
Here's what you need to do about the friends page, from LJ FAQ#160

Why can't I see the most recent version of a page? Why won't my journal or friends page update?
If you aren't seeing the most recent versions of LiveJournal pages, you are most likely viewing an old version of the page in your browser cache. Specific examples include recent updates not showing on your friends page or a message that your LiveJournal updates were successful before making any updates.

First, click your web browser's Refresh or Reload button. Next, clear your browser's cache or consult browser documentation to see if your browser provides a "hard" or "forced" refresh. (For instructions on clearing browser cache, read your browser's documentation or this howto tutorial provided as a courtesy by support volunteers.)

If clearing your browser cache doesn't resolve the problem, you will need to investigate other reasons why entries are not showing correctly. In particular, backdated entries will not appear on your friends page and incorrectly formatted HTML can make your journal or friends page appear to stop updating.

I cleared my cache, and everything is fine. Good luck. But get some rest first.

Thanks. I finally figured out how to do that without destroying everything I've inputted, so it's all good again. I still say it's a stupid browser, though.

Rest. Good idea...

Well, you just saw me, but here are the most interesting things to happen since your last post:

* G called and invited himself over to watch Real Genius. Nothing's happened yet.
* Thanksgiving was kind of dreadful, but not as horrible as expected. Complete description available in T-Day entry
* Carly finally came out of hiding to tell me what was going on with her and the two idiots she's been dating. The whole scene made me feel like a complete chump.
* I had another interesting dream.
* You heard about what a pleasant experience I've had reviewing the Danish murder mystery. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but the good feelings it's generated have made it one of the highlights of my year.

Hmm. I should have asked you about G. I'm sorry to say I forgot all about him. Funny how being with friends both expands and narrows the world around you, eh?
I feel bad that I didn't even ask how your Thanksgiving was! I'm sorry it wasn't happy.(I'll have to investigate your journal now that I'm logged in.)
I'm glad that reviewing experience was so good. I do hope you find a job that can bring you that kind of satisfaction more often than your current one has. You deserve it.

G's not really that important at this juncture. I like him immensely and continue to find him attractive, but he's young and I've thought better of my crush, though I still appreciate his company and the uncanny way he has of showing up when he's most needed.

I will have him over for Real Genius at some point. I'll probably be seeing rather a lot of him during the holidays. Our families frequently celebrate together, which as you might imagine can be awkward, but also a lot of fun.

Thanksgiving wasn't bad, in fact it was a lot better than I expected, but the weekend had a fair amount of drama, and I missed seeing the Wood clan. I've just discovered how much I like being a part of them this year.
