Can't be left out, now can I?

January: Wow. That was quite the experience. I love my family, but God is it good to be home.
February: So, first off, a late birthday wish to zalena. I hope the year continues to get better and better.
March: Has anyone seen my spark lately? I seem to have lost it somewhere. I'd like it back. Please. (There was a private entry that I'd completely forgotten about linked to that statement about a dream that disturbed me more than any nightmare has. And, when I reread that entry, the thought that came to mind was how the consistent critique I got at school was that I don't give enough of myself in my art, which I'm just starting to realize is still very true. (Thing is, I mostly am more in my head than in my heart, so wouldn't it be false to make more emotional art?) I wonder, is it the same here?
April: Because all the cool people were doing it. And no, I would not jump off a cliff if they did.
I'd get a hang-glider.
May: Hello!
June: I just had a wonderful night of role reversals.
July: Health sucks! Or rather, waning health sucks. (That's the cut's text, but it sums up the content nicely.)
August: Just sent off chapter 13 to the beta. I'm not thrilled with it, but that might just be the heat making me disagreeable. I did iron out the worst of the problems, thouhg, so maybe it'll read okay.
September: 1) This is the 1st of September, what do you want to accomplish by the 31st?
The mural, the Rocks, the sidewalk, the trim, countertop and glueing. Oh, and a portrait of Babe. And while I'm at it, maybe on the 31st I'll finally take that trip to the moon I've been er, mooning over. (sorry.)
October: "Forgiveness is giving up all hope of a better past."
--Jack Kornfield.
November: I'm thinking of reposting "She Married Her Choice" under a different title and marking it complete. Then, when I start posting the third part, the title will be "She Married Her Choice" and it will make much more sense.
December: Oh, and this is a "what I did on my vacation" post. Or maybe, more accurately, "what I didn't do on my vacation" post.
So it started out badly...
I've got about 6000 words written on a story I think most people are going to hate. Okay, maybe not hate, but it definitely won't be most people's cup of tea. It is most definitely not my usual fare. I think it's shaping up nicely, though. I really hope that I can get it in under 10,000 words. I want it to be a one-shot. We'll see.
Also, I'm rather happy! It turns out DH won't be going to San Diego until next week, rather than tomorrow. Er, today. Thank goodness as Babe's still upset over Nana and Papa's absence. Poor boy. (Poor mama, too.)
But what I'm not happy about is flour beetles. I bought an infested bag of flour several months ago and left it sitting there in my cupboard (not having opened it to find out it was infested). Now I have to clean out the entire kitchen rather rigorously. I've got the worst cupboards done (the ones that actually had bugs in them), and my lungs are not happy with me thanks to my overzealous use of tilex for my first attack of the buggers.
That was before I found out that a vacuum and warm, soapy water are all that are needed. Poo.
So, here I am, awake waaaaaaaaaaaay too late, but starting to get drowsy thanks to the benadryl I took to ease my lung irritation. Hopefully sleep will happen tonight. Maybe even soon. :-)
Yup, benadryl's definitely working. I'm starting to feel quite happy. :-)
Whee.

Date: 2007-01-10 04:08 am (UTC)The blame for my pulmonary distress lies quite painfully on my feet. I should have researched the matter before hand, or at least taken better precautions with such toxic material. Silly me. :-J \
Thanks for the offer! I know DH is almost always in need of decent restaurants that are open late (late, late). IHOP and Denny's get old pretty fast. Hopefully he won't need them this trip (hope does spring eternal), but with him, you never know.

Date: 2007-01-10 05:01 pm (UTC)One of many excellent things about being so close to Mexico is that there are lots of tasty tasty Mexican food places open 24-7. Also, if he has access to a car, there's City Deli in Hillcrest that's open 'til 2 on weekends, and their food is excellent. Their placemats advertise their "exotic novelty cakes." Yay! I'll see if Mr. 42 has any to add to the list.

Erm, what exactly do they mean by "exotic novelty cakes"? *sol* (translation: snickering out loud)

Date: 2007-01-11 12:40 am (UTC)The warning I'm going to put on it is: This is an unpleasant story. Unpleasant behaviors, unpleasant situations and unpleasant characters are within.
It is NOT going to be romantic. At all.
