Oh, come on! A good half of those questions the pre-colonial pygmies would have been able to answer! Who did Jesus raise from the dead... /scoff

On a separate note, does anyone know of any good Peter Pettigrew fics? I'm having a devil of a time trying to get into his head to characterize him properly. It's easy when he's fearing for his life or around those in positions of power as there are examples of that throughout the books, but what about those times when he isn't afraid? He's petulant, self-serving, weak-willed and... unscrupulous. Is he mean? Is he insecure? (yes) Is he ruled by evil? (I doubt it) Is he pitiable, or just disgusting?
I'm starting to hate this story of mine, btw. Writing it, anyway.
Upon rereading the Shrieking Shack scene once again... the lines between good and evil are far from clear there. Is it just a difference in culture between Muggle and Wizarding worlds that makes it okay for Remus to quietly (and I infer 'matter-of-factly') say to PP: "You should have realized if Voldemort didn't kill you, we would"?
Is the Wizarding World a kill or be killed society? Yes, it was war, but there are such things as POW's. At least, in the Muggle world there are. Is Avada Kedavra Unforgivable because it takes the life of the other person, or because of the hatred behind the spell? I'm thinking the latter if Remus and Sirius are talking about killing Peter in such blasé terms. For Sirius it could be easily seen as a revenge killing, and in the Muggle world I expect he'd have a case of pleading insanity. But Remus... he's calm, collected, questioning Peter and listening to him, saying things like "No one is going to try and kill you until we've sorted a few things out." That "until" is what gets me.
Rereading those two chapters also makes me think that those who think Remus is a wimp are way off base. He acts a bit soft at times, but I think he's as ready and able a killer as any of them. He just doesn't shout about it (and might cry a bit about it afterwards). Can you blame him?
I'm coming to think David Thewlis' characterization did Remus a grave disservice. But then, I do have a thing against mustaches.

I think Avada Kedavra is Unforgivable in part because there's no way to protect yourself against it. There are other death-dealing spells which aren't Unforgivables, but also ways of protecting yourself against them.
What annoys me most about Thewlis' characterization is that I think he *could* have done it well. But I hated the mustache, too. Ugh.
