averygoodun42I did say this story was supposed to be a quick little one-shot, didn't I? 5,000 words or so? It's now nearly 21,000 words, and I'm hoping that it will squeak in under 30. I am on the home stretch now, anyway. I'm pretty sure it'll be in three parts, though it might be four if I choose to do an epilogue as well.
I'm not sure my Peter/Wormtail is terribly accurate, characterization-wise, but I think I'm starting to like where this is going (unpleasantness aside, of course). I've already done most of the really uncomfortable scenes, and I think there's only one difficult scene left, though maybe two.
However, I'm not sure I like the way it's lightening up. It's not a dark fic by any means, but it isn't supposed to be romantic or pleasant, either. In fact, I want it to be the antithesis to Romance. Ah well, that's what revision is for, right?
I think I've got far enough along to write to the author who inspired this pieceof filth and ask for her blessing. It is very, very, very different from her story, but... I know someone wrote something inspired by "Against the Wall: Bravo" which was, um, quite similar, and she did say in the author's notes that my story had inspired hers, which was flattering, truth to tell, but I was a little tiny bit upset that she didn't contact me in any way, shape or form when she knew it was so very similar. If she hadn't given the credit at all, I probably would have been a bit annoyed. Maybe.
Anyway. This is not an original premise now, nor was it when the author who inspired the story started posting hers, but this story was inspired by hers, so I want to make sure she's okay with that.
Now to remember to do that.
I am really, really looking forward to getting this done and out of my head. I want to get back to more pleasant pastimes. Also, I have to get this out of my head so that I can catch up on the artses. I'm only behind one week so far, but if this story drags out much longer... Bleh.
