stalling

I have three different types of pies to make in the next six hours or so. And here I am, at the computer, desperately looking for something to take my attention away from the task at hand.

Yeah.

Not smart.

Thing is... it's Tuesday! Yes, the pies are being picked up tomorrow afternoon, but, well, it's Tuesday! Turkey Day isn't till Thursday, and fresher is better!

I suppose I could bake them all tomorrow morning. I would still want to make the shells today, though, as rolling out the dough is the most time consuming part. No, peeling and coring the apples is. But that really does need to be done at the last possible minute...

This is why I am not a professional anything. This. Right here.

Yeah. Still no progress.

It is incredibly difficult to get motivated to start cooking when one's stomach is feeling progressively more icky. I'm more convinced than ever that the tortillas last night were flour, not corn. Boo. Either that, or my reactions to tomatoes are growing stronger.

I think I will forgo stuffing and such on Thursday. That makes me sad, but at least there will be turkey. And sweet potatoes. And brussel sprouts. And... Are there any (cooked) non-starchy veggies that are traditional for Thanksgiving? Besides green bean casserole, which I have already said is revolting. Besides filled with flour.

...

But now to go make that pastry. Not difficult nor terribly time consuming. And it is something I enjoy. And it will ease my mind when it's done.
