Involutarily lurking
Jun. 30th, 2009 12:41 amSo, Geoff left for Philly, and with him went the "good" computer. The one that works just fine until it shuts off without warning. I am home right now, and, as is blatantly obvious, I am online, but I might as well not be. The connection/computer is paaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiinfully slow. Slower than dial-up, and far more... picky. Some sites will not load (I've tried to check my gmail account(s) five times, and I tried to look at Dicky's update three times, none with any success. However, Pride WE sounds like it was fun, Nom, and Droxy... damn, girl. Better you than me up any pole!) and others just take forever and a day.
So. I shall not be wasting my time in front of the computer for the next few days. Much. And if I do, you shall not know it, for I will not be commenting or posting unless something truly remarkable happens.
But, while I'm here, I shall say that:
1) Clone v.2 is coming along quite nicely, helped in great part by a friendly stranger in Home Depot who recommended I try the galvanized steel pipes rather than spending oodles on copper. I had to hack a hunk off of the pipe I bought, but it will be pretty much perfect, and is already in place. *insert jokes about sticks up butts if you wish* Tomorrow I will be finishing up the stuffing part, making the base, the bottom (the part to hold all the stuffing in) and putting it all together. It's very odd, because it doesn't quite look like my shape, even though it has my measurements. It's rather eye-opening at how body-conscious I actually am, though.
2) I finally took Babe to the doctor today about his accidents, as he had another one today. Doc thinks he's stopped up, though she admitted his belly felt fine (and I'm not surprised, as the accident was a messy one, and rather large) at that moment. He seemed to enjoy the novelty of peeing in a cup.
3) I know the naturopath told me to use fats liberally, but I think I overdid it with the coconut oil tonight. It was yummy, but I think it would have been better reduced by, oh, half. On the plus side, my tummy hasn't complained about it yet, so I suspect it doesn't object. :-)
4) I want a frosty-cino. :-(
5) It poured today. Cats and dogs type poured. It was awesome. What was even more awesome was that it cleared up before we had to drive anywhere. :-)
6) I want to try unadulterated prickly pear juice. The candies Geoff brought home from a stopover in Phoenix are strangely tasty, but really way too sweet.
7) Speaking of sweet things, the dentist visit got put off till August. They had an emergency patient call in, and so begged me to move my appointment out. They gave me Wed. morning, but, well, Geoff won't be home yet and it's early enough in the morning to be awkward for babysitters. So... August it will be. On one hand I'm psyched that I won't have that physical stress on me till after our vacation, but on the other hand, having a vacation to recover from it might have been nice. Plus I'd just like to get it over with. *shrug* Oh well. At the same time, this gives me an opportunity to switch dentists before I get the work done...
8) I forget how nice it is to put Babe to bed, especially without any time constraints or counter demands (like Geoff) in place. Geoff usually puts him to bed nowadays because he sees so little of him during the week, so I had forgotten that, when we're both mellow, it's super sweet to sing him to sleep.
9) I wonder what the odds are that this will post without problems? I think I'll copy all this, just to be safe. (As it turned out, it was good that I did because the freaking computer DROPPED THE CONNECTION while I was writing this entry. This computer is made of utter and complete fail. I'm just glad the clipboard buffer wasn't compromised.
Cheers!

Date: 2009-06-30 06:16 am (UTC)I have never had prickly pear juice, but have tried prickly pears, and found them unpleasantly sweet to my taste.
Yes, sometimes life is simpler without two parents getting in the way. It is a lovely, peaceful time putting them to bed - it's usually Mr D who does it here, too.
*hugs*

Date: 2009-07-08 02:44 am (UTC)Hum. I assumed that it was the corn syrup making the candies so sweet, but maybe it was the juice... *iz curious*
