The little annoyances of the day are annoying )

HOWEVER...

There are good things! )

All my problems are small. That in itself is a huge blessing.

Stalling

I should be making chicken stock, (pomegranate or black cherry?) jello and/or roasted squash right now. However, the roast chicken doesn't have to go into the oven until 3:30, and I figure I can probably stall till then... Without trying very hard.

Geoff )

My ear is overcrowded. I want it to kick out the interlopers and get on with draining, as the neighboring sinuses are starting to complain.

Mucus aside, gross digression ), I actually had a bounce in my step this morning! An hour and a half of running around and doing errands kinds wore it down to a mild vibration, but I do think I'm on the upswing, now. Assuming my ear drains.

No sugar tonight in my coffee... )

My computer has been annoying me lately. I'm up to date on all the updates, but I can't view videos. Or rather, I can view videos if I have supreme patience. It takes forever for even a short video to buffer (that Snape personal ad took three minutes to buffer the one minute clip!) and then, with longer videos, it stops to buffer every two minutes! AAAAHH!

I've done several scans and no spyware seems to have latched on, and the (rebooted) router says it's going great guns, but... It's most annoying. Streaming is completely out until this gets fixed, and neither Geoff nor I know how to fix it. Ah well.

Knitting for Aeternitas )

Aaaaaand, that's about it. I'm sure I could blather on longer, but the laundry is actually calling to me, as is my unmade bed.

"Elizzzzaaaaabeeethhhh!" they whisper tantalizingly, "Come tennnnnnd tooooo meeeeeeeeee!"

You know you've been ill too long when the thought of doing chores is exciting. :-D

Ciao.

Though, I must say that the time spent away from the computer was fairly good. After all, I reread "Goodnight, Mr. Tom" and read "Plum Spooky" and "Cotillion" - my first ever Heyer. I can see why so many of you love her work. I just wish the library had "The Grand Sophy". Ach well.

So, in the time I was forced to stay away from the computer, I have:

not done all that much, really... )

I did not:
do a lot more than I list here )

It rained something fierce here today. Again. This time it actually caused one black and three brown-outs, though. I think the blackout is what fixed the computer, as we hadn't actually rebooted the modem, silly us. But MN decided to be nice and fix the problem for us. Yay! Now I just need to hook up the usb thingy and download all my photos and voila! Wheeness.

Shame about Geoff's computer, though. I don't have access to PS anymore. :-(

Anyway, that's about all that's on my mind right now. Sad, ain't it?

ETA Note to self: Do not take plaq on empty stomach. ALWAYS eat something before taking the stuff. Eating immediately after taking it is NOT the same as eating beforehand and you WILL regret it.

So, Geoff left for Philly, and with him went the "good" computer. The one that works just fine until it shuts off without warning. I am home right now, and, as is blatantly obvious, I am online, but I might as well not be. The connection/computer is paaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiinfully slow. Slower than dial-up, and far more... picky. Some sites will not load (I've tried to check my gmail account(s) five times, and I tried to look at Dicky's update three times, none with any success. However, Pride WE sounds like it was fun, Nom, and Droxy... damn, girl. Better you than me up any pole!) and others just take forever and a day.

So. I shall not be wasting my time in front of the computer for the next few days. Much. And if I do, you shall not know it, for I will not be commenting or posting unless something truly remarkable happens.

But, while I'm here, I shall say that:

Cheers!

First, I was playing with the cute name generator on the site that shall not be named, and for fun, I put in Severus Snape... or should we call him Moopsieface?

I liked Geoff's cute name: Schnookiecake.

I dare anyone to write a fic where Snape is called either of those names without killing the offending person. Perhaps even adopting the endearments? (Would that be possible?)

Rambling about projects and Babe, mostly )

I hate statement cookies. All fortune cookies have devolved into these abominations and it's almost enough to put me off Chinese food. They should not be called fortune cookies unless they have some ridiculous prophecy that goes (or not) with "between the sheets" added to the end of it.

And so forth )

This weekend my task is to find out if Geoff has enough miles to get me to San Francisco this summer. I'm pretty sure he does, especially if I book soon.

Assuming that there are miles enough to get there, anyone want to share a room with me? I don't snore (unless I have a cold, in which case I will buy some nose strips), I won't leave puddles on the bathroom floor and I will try to respect your desire for sleep by not talking your ear off. I promise.

Also, can anyone tell me about the art thing going on? I'm half inclined to do some work for it.

So, that's about it.

Okay, I'm trying to make a ribbing effect thingy. k2/p2 etc.

My question: Whatever pattern I choose for the first row, I do the reverse (row 1: k2/p2. row 2: p2/k2) for the next row, correct? And if it were a different pattern, like k2/p1 etc., the next row would be p2/k1?

...when you cross Red Green with Martha Stewart? )

I had a mildly disturbing dream last night about having someone paint the livingroom. They had done one wall and said they were finished, only, well, it was horrible. My walls are a nice, cheerful, butter yellow right now (good organic butter, not the store name stuff). I like the color of my walls quite a lot, so when I went up to inspect the job this lady had done, I was aghast at the mustard/yellow ochre that was not just painted on, but globbed on. It was horrible.

And it sounds so silly now.

THere was other disturbingness in my dreams beyond that, though. Like my church was getting bomb threats (not that we were scared off), and I had to go find someone, can't remember who, but they were on the other side of this thermal swamp... that was thoroughly disgusting, even if we mainly did keep to the paths.

But, then again, last night ended on an unsettling note, so I suppose it's to be expected.

Anyway, that's all. Besides the obligatory, "And this, too, shall pass. And this, too, shall pass. And this, too, shall pass. And this, too, shall pass..."

Christmas

So... Christmas was more than a week ago, wasn't it? Um... yeah. It was pretty fantastic, especially the booty we received (although I feel exceptionally bad about one gift... more on that later.) Really, we made out like bandits thanks to the extreme generosity of my parents.

The gifts )

The tale of the new tree topper )

Pictures of my Angelic Nazgul. )

So, anyway, that was my Christmas.  It was very nice -- one of the best I've had for a while.  And now it's the New Year.  Huh.

Well, happy New Year to you all, and I hope that it is full of happiness.

ETA: Ooh!  And I finally get to tell you all about some stuff I did for the exchange!  Lookit here and see!  (Lots of pictures)  And huge thanks to [profile] noelani_sitara for making them look so great!
