I wanna play, too!

The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So ask me something you want to know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away. Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

Date: 2009-10-22 05:41 pm (UTC)HP: ... My sister introduced me to the books just before the release of Goblet, and I was completely sucked in. (I remember tending to the Gallery at which I then worked, and being impatient for the customers to leave so I could go back to reading. Bad Avery!)
I read and reread the books for the next couple of years, and right after OotP came out, I was hungry for as much info as I could get. Rumors, theories, anything. I searched around the net and found Mugglenet about then, and that led to everything else.
I really can't remember how I got into fanfic, though. I do remember visiting a Sirius Black site early on, though I wasn't overly impressed with it. I wish I could remember how I got into this section of fandom. FFN had something to do with it, but it's all very foggy.
As for my favorite word... I think it's synchronicity. Not only does it have nice sibilant rhythm that rolls off the tongue, its meaning is... erm, meaningful. It, like all things, is neither good nor evil, but it can be used to signify either end of the spectrum. The coming together of disparate ideas or actions into a relevant re/action is... is hard to explain. Like life.
Right. That's the rambly, incoherent answer. The more succinct answer is that I like the sound of it and have benefited quite often from bouts of it in my life, thereby giving the word extra meaning to me personally.

Date: 2009-10-23 07:19 pm (UTC)Outside of HP: ...Well, I reread "Pride and Prejudice" most frequently because it is the ultimate snarky, feel-good romance. And Lizzy rocks.
"Change Your Brain, Change Your Life" by Dr. Daniel Amen is probably my favorite self-help book because he puts scientific data/proof behind certain new-age quacked theories that do help but were poo-pooed until recently.
... And it's a toss up between my Art History book or the (US) National Gallery book for favorite browsing/reference book. National Gallery has more pretty (and very good quality) pictures, but the history book has more information.
I don't know what my favorite children's book is, though I do have a soft spot for "Green Eggs and Ham" for the younger kids and "Charlotte's Web", "The Trumpet of the Swan" and "Hatchet" for older kids.
My reading background is actually pretty limited, though (compared to most of my friends), and I tend to reread rather than expand my horizons. =)
