So, Geoff is off on a business trip. He was told he might be going on Monday, then that he would definitely be going yesterday. Hopefully he'll be back on Friday, as planned, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
It's a cold, rainy, gray, miserable day here. Cocoa weather. I'll probably make myself some tea today just because it is that miserable out.
One of the best fitting sets of sheets we have are probably going to have to be thrown out. They've somehow acquired a really nasty, chemical smell and it just won't come out, and has only been getting stronger over time. I've tried oxy-clean, bleach, borax, vinegar... I haven't boiled them, but that's because they're too big to boil, except for the pillow cases. I don't know what else to do. I don't feel too terrible throwing them out because they are old (15-20 years old), but considering they're in fine fettle, except for the smell, it's aggravating my miserly soul.
It's early-release day.
HOWEVER...
Page has been such a delight the last few days. Affectionate, helpful, bright and cheerful - he's been a joy to be around.
It's nice to find the source of the smell that's been plaguing my linen closet. Hopefully getting rid of the sheets will take care of it.
My washing machine gets things clean. I am reveling in the softness.
I think I've gotten the hang of algebra again. I'm on lesson 15/20, factoring equations, and not having any major issues. I'm still debating whether to just drop that online course (it's free, so nothing lost) or rage through all the assignments and exams in one day (being very careful with my arithmetic) after I've finished the useful book lessons. I swear, that course is worse than useless. It's like it's trying to teach algebra assuming that you know calculus. And I figured out that one of the difficulties is that there's a language barrier. The teacher does not have a good enough grasp of English to be able to choose the clearest explanations. Granted, s/he also always chooses words to explain what diagrams show better... I wonder if anyone has found the course to be truly helpful. I hope so.
I'm about halfway through my knitting project. It's not the best example of knitting I've every done, but it's the first piece I've really worked on in... a couple years at least. So I'm pleased. Maybe after I finish this one, I'll go through all my yarns making similar items till I have the hang of it. Or maybe I'll abandon knitting again, fickle crafter that I am.
All my problems are small. That in itself is a huge blessing.
